“I’d like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we’ve passed the audition.”
You did, John; you did.
“I’d like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we’ve passed the audition.”
You did, John; you did.
Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace, you
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world, you
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Sharon: Thanks! I always loved the melody so much, I never really listened to or appreciated the words. Pretty profound lyrics!
Yes, indeed.
Pat,
Isn’t the pres a champion of the working class? You sound like a liberal to me.
I b’leeve that’s spelled “lib’rul,” Brother Dale. Or “commniss.”
Bernie, Bernie, Bernie, Bernie!!!! I’m a socialist sumbitch sure ‘nuf. Aren’t all bicycle riders like me?
37 years later in the USA kooks with guns still murder innocent people every day
Those were evil days. My dad and Lennon died within two weeks of each other, and I quit my newspaper job in Tucson without another in hand and set about a long stretch of couch-surfing, job-hunting and general moochery throughout the American West. Reagan had been elected the 40th president of the United States. I didn’t think things could get any worse.
I was wrong. I will never be smart.
Way different for me – I was still sponging off my parents trying to get my motorcycle racing “career” going while working a steady, decent-paying job in data processing (I guess it would be IT now?) that I could do using barely 1/3 of my brain. The damage Ray-Gun would do was still unseen by folks like me.
Yep, I started in EDP, with punch cards, paper tape readers, mag tapes & removable disc packs You didn’t need to go to the gym because they were so heavy. Finally said Fuck it when we were landed with the stench of Dev-ops. Unfortunately, after that I got diagnosed with cancer, I blame computers
Also worked hard trying to be a Motocross racer, sadly lack of money & skill ended that but I can say that I worked damn hard to be that mediocre & fundamentally just pack filler..
Me too on the computer operator career. It was only 4 and 1/2 years. Started running IBM 1401 main frame and ended running a computer room with a 370/155 and 370/165 mainframes with lots of peripheral drives, card readers, and memory units in the computer room with a separate room below with 4 high speed printers and a variety of punch card equipment. Went back to work as an electronic repairman is 1975 and never looked back.
I still remember walking into my buddy Tom Wolosz’ office that next morning. Tom had been pretty much living and sleeping in his office (his advisor’s lab) while writing his dissertation. He looked at me incredulously and said “shit, I was in and out of sleep for the last few hours and wondered why the campus station was playing all Beatles music”. We had found out that morning.
As Lorenzo said, not much has changed. Someone shot up the Aztec, NM high school yesterday, killing two students. No motive yet. Not sure the perp ate his gun or if the cops got him. No one is saying. But the GOP wants everyone to concealed carry with no restrictions or training so we can fuck up and shoot each other while someone else is shooting at us. Make America Gunshot Again (#MAGA).
Someone the other day had a great idea for the next Democrat running for prez in 2020: a blue hat this time with “MAGA” on the front.
Yep, as in MORONS ARE GOVERNING AMERICA. I ordered some stickers as holiday gifts.

My favourite down under band..
Not to mention..
Saw a great bumper sticker recently — “Still mad at Yoko”.
I want one.
