Home alone

Muaah haaah haaaaaah … Herself has taken off for the Right Coast on business and I am left to indulge my basest impulses with neither let nor hindrance.

By sheer luck, a royalty check arrived as she departed, the fruit of my labors for VeloGear, a year’s worth of Fat Guy® jerseys, T-shirts, jockstraps, nipple rings and the like. I immediately cashed it, went straight to Bristol Brewing for a jug each of Edge City Pilsner and Compass IPA, and now I’m broke again. But at least I have beer.

  1. Keep up the good work!

You should print a disclaimer on the Fat Guy® jerseys: “Continuous use may make you no longer fat.” I bought one in 2004 (I Think), and using it regularly has made it floppy and loose. I’m a millimeter under six feet tall, and was around an embarrassing 220 pounds. I bought a size “L” that fit OK (snug), and now (at 185) it’s so loosey goosey, that it’s making me look like a Fred. It also makes people ask me why I’m wearing it because I’m not really “fat”. When I ride past those people with the truly fat bulging lycra, I wonder if they think I’m making fun of them. When I ride my fyx, the only place to put a water bottle is in the pocket. It was drooping down so far that I had to employ a safety pin to take up about 4-inches of material so that the water bottle didn’t droop so low as to bump against the saddle.

    Beers and pizza all around!
    Cheers!

  2. When people think fat, they think of the Old Guy in the cartoon. I suspect a lot of us consider ourselves fat, but the rest of society would disagree.

These days I’m happy to be a reasonably fit Fred.

  3. Patrick, at that rate you should get them to just pay you in beer. You deserve a much higher rate of return for your great work. The cartoons are fleeting…the jersies (and nipple rings) last FOREVER!!!

  4. Well it certainly is nice to hear you got to spend some money for something money is supposed to be spent on. Congratulations and here’s to happy hangovers!
