Man, the smoke around here last night was wicked — we had to close all the windows to keep the house from smelling like a Cub Scout campfire.
Now a slurry bomber has crashed, grounding the fleet, and the fire folks are using helicopters instead. Lovely.
And the VeloNews.com website has developed some sort of hiccup just in time for me to clock in. Is this Monday or Sunday?

lucky we had so much rain these last couple of months … coulda been a ton worse.
hiccups … something going on with the web or is it just me? Seems half the sites i visit via my laptop, the site thinks i’m on an iPhone and auto-formats itself into the mobile view. either that, or some sort of IP address recognition software identifies me as knocking on the door of AARP membership, and they are conveniently making the page easy on my clouded-over, geriatric peepers.
Somewhat off the subject, but does anyone know of anybody that sells lightweight summer long-sleeve cycling jerseys? Some of us are sun-sensitive but don’t want to cook out there.
Fortunate that the P-2 crash was a runway overrun. Old plane, things break with even the best maintenance. Glad the crew got out unhurt.
Hey Khal, I have good luck with the Golf shirts I find at Goodwill, the wicking type fabric. I’m a cheapo.
Thanks!
khal, another option is to get the UnderArmor Heat gear, those skin tight ultra-wicking things that make folks like me look like Bib the Michelin Man trying to climb inside a ribbed Trojan. i got ’em issued back during our Fun, Travel, and Adventure in the desert. Put one on under your jersey, and if you sweat like i do, you’ll actually feel chilly on a 95 degree day.
