Tom Tancredo, Colorado’s perennial entrant in the national Our Crazy Guy Is Crazier Than Your Crazy Guy competition, has told Scott McIsn’t and Dan “Who the Hell Am I, Anyway? Maes to drop out of the GOP gubernatorial race or he’ll jump in as a third-party candidate.
“Mexicans! Communists! Terrorists! Abortionists!” said Tancredo. Well, not yet. But it’s coming.
Tancredo says he’ll run under the banner of the Constitution Party, which could (and probably should) hold its convention in a short bus, with free rubber helmets for all attendees.
The party already has a candidate — Benjamin Goss, another household name — but he doesn’t sound all that committed. On Wednesday, he told The Denver Post that he remained in the race “at this point.” Uh huh. And Bert Grabsch remains in the Tour, too. He’s just not gonna win it.
The stage GOP is shitting itself, naturally. Dick Wadhams, chairman of the Colorado GOP, told The Post that if Tancredo carries through on his threat, he “will be responsible for the election of Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper as governor” and jeopardize other state races.
Well, then. As another great leader once said, “Bring it on.”

It doesn’t matter which party or candidate wins we will have sh*t for a governor.
Iowa, where we live when we can’t be over here in Italy, has its own entrant in the bozo sweepstakes, none other than Steve King, our rabid congressman who never hesitates to say Barack HUSSEIN Obama whenever he refers to the prez. One hope we have is the depopulation of Iowa may make his district extinct…and with him as our rep in DeeCee I look forward to that….now we just need to get rid of old grouch Chuckles Grassley! Oh, how I’m looking forward to going back “home” and getting involved in all the political stuff — but I just can’t sit still and watch the asshats take over completely without doing something — until we can move full time to Italy at least.
Of course in Italy, you now have Il Duce Berlusconi. The world keeps getting smaller, and the infectious disease called bad politics has no borders. Only good thing I can say about Berlusconi is that he apparently has good taste in cabinet ministers.

We have trouble finding anyone here in Italy who’ll admit to voting for Silvio and most of our Italian friends are as ashamed of him as we were of George W. I used to joke the problem would be solved if we got rid of the “B”s, Bush, Blair, Berlusconi and Bin Laden to great laughs and nods of approval from our Italian friends. They seem to know Sil’s a buffoon but are waiting for someone to come along and challenge him. Italy is caught in the grip of right-wing screwballs like the Lega Nord, the separatist movement that would like to chop Italy in half. Amazingly they have supporters in the half they want to ditch as well! So it’s just as dumb as the political situation in the US but as my friend David wrote, they don’t let it stop them from living “la dolce vita” and Italy continues to be the best place on earth to be a cyclist or cycling enthusiast, no matter who’s in the power chair down in Rome. It’s hard to explain to those who’ve never been here and ridden a bike — but for us it’s as close to heaven on earth as you can get.
Larry, I’ve been to Italy a few times, and I agree. Damned near heaven. Can’t wait to go back. Living in Canada, I used to be pretty smug about politics. I mean there was G.W. running things south of us, and we had Jean Chretien, as wiley and left wing as you could get. Then we elected Stephen Harper. We call him a shrub, ’cause he thinks he’s a little Bush. He’s been doing his best to make Canada the 51st state. I might see you in Italy soon.
Sad news in the Times. Dan Schorr has checked out.
Saturday mornings will never be the same.
Telling off Tancredo is the first even marginally intelligent thing I’ve ever heard Wadhams say.
Gents,
It just makes you want to scream all the time, doesn’t it? I have this huge dent in my forehead from banging it on the desk, and not even booze takes away the pain.
Stupidity is one thing. Venality is another. But willful ignorance, as evidenced by a sizable fraction of the citizenry, makes my blood boil. Following politics has become like watching a kindergartner with both hands clamped over his ears, shrieking, “YAH YAH YAH YAH YAH I CAN’T HEEEEEEEEARRRR YOOOOOUUU!”
Jesus. HST shot himself just in time.
HST beat me to the punch…..but then again he didn’t live to see the end of GWB’s reign of ‘terrier’ or whatever that epoch of ‘merican history will be called.
