Jesus, Hosni Mubarak has really stepped in it now. He and his veep have basically told Egypt to shuddup, siddown and get back to work. Good luck with that. Let’s see how the army votes.

Yea, geez, what does he think they are, Americans?
“Go home, play with your iPhones, maybe order up some KFC, a flat-screen TV and a hybrid Ford Exhibition, put ’em on the old Visa card, damn’ the interest rates, what we need here is some consumer spending and plenty of it. It’s either that or the tear gas. Your choice, bitches.”
The army, hmm. Mubarak came from the army and it looks like the army will decide what will happen to him. Kinda smells like it could be Turkey’s approach or Pakistan’s approach, and the army will have to decide what path it wants Egypt to pursue. This is getting to be better than all the doping-in-cycling stories.
Interesting. I think Obama putting his $0.02 in just adds to the mess. My hunch is that Mubarek is trying to gracefully withdraw without admitting he was given the bum’s rush. Probably was discussed already among the generals.
Maybe a schism in the military? Mubarak’s lot vs. some other faction? Egypt’s ambassador to the U.S. apparently has been speaking cryptically to the CNN newsies. It’s gonna get interesting tomorrow, folks. Sure doesn’t look like the CIA has much in the ol’ clues closet. That might be all she wrote for Leon Panetta’s ass.
