Holy hell. Talk about an angry inch.
We just got that much rain between coffee and oatmeal. It sounded like the Bad Old Days, when I lived next to the railroad tracks in a series of shacks. That train just kept on thundering along.
We’d gotten just under 3 inches all year long until this morning.
I’ma go out on a very soggy limb and speculate that this may be a poor morning for the ol’ bikey ridey.
Probably be a good day to swim laps around the house, though.

60°, feels like 60°. Totally doable. A riding buddy notes that we have to keep an eye out for the Sandia Sand Crabs in the watery bits, though.

This riding buddy is also a cartoonist and a wisenheimer, so the Sandia Sand Crab could be just about anything. Bloomer bunnies, pants rabbits, crotch crickets … your guess is as good as mine, Hoss.
Great music. Very appropriate. A quick check indicates that the car on the Jackson Browne cover is a Chevy Bel air (maybe a ’51) that Glen Frey gave him. Cool.
It appears from a weather check that your “wet” may have moved on. Doesn’t the desert absorb moisture and dry out fairly quick?

As regards the desert, when the rain comes down that hard and fast it makes a right bloody mess of things, gouging the trails down to the caliche and bedrock, spreading arroyo sand and landscaping gravel all over the streets, and delivering the unhoused to the Great Beyond via a series of diversion channels.
Happily, I like to run when cycling seems iffy. And seeing as the sun is peeking out at the moment, I think I might get out there for a short jog, see if I can avoid falling over into a mud puddle.
We got 1/4 inch yesterday for a total of 3/4 inch over the last two days. Nice, but could I borrow another 1/4 inch from you?
I’d love to share, but that water jetted out of here at high speed. Right down the diversion channels to where the Rio used to be. Made a hell of a mess of the trails en route, too.

pretty sunny up here right now but we got quite a bit of rain yesterday and some overnight.
We’ve gotten nearly an inch and a half in the last 48 hours and might get some more tonight and/or tomorrow. The flora is loving it and I bet the fauna is doing likewise.
An hour ago I saw two doves bathing and drinking in a big puddle on the street. We have had short rain showers all afternoon. So, you’re right buddy, the fauna are happy and we should be too.
If you can swim around the house you might be able to swim in the house if your roof needs work. Or maybe if it gets too deep outside the house and runs into the house…
