A new dawn

In the pink? We certainly hope so. …

A’ight, y’all, buckle up, ’cause here we go.

I launched the new theme and the Block Editor (curse its name, yes) because like any good test pilot (and many more bad ones) I got tired of kicking the tires and decided to light the fires.

I expect we will find a few bugs in the bird as we tumble along, but here’s hoping we wind up with the cockpit on top and the wheels on the bottom.

  1. Well, I put a comment on the Walk it Off post, reply to Sao’. It seems to be there. after closing and reopening browser. When posting I told the beast to remember my name etc.

I’ll soon see if my name etc. is remembered for this comment. Nopity, Nope, Nope, The beast remembers me not. Entered again to post.

II miss the side boxes from the old format, especially the pithy quote. It might still be included but I don’t de it. I red on Mac using Safari, not my phone.

    1. Thanks for shopping at DogMart, Randolph. The WordPress wizards kept suggesting I move away from sidebars and widgets so I thought I’d give this one-column thing a shot. It is considerably tidier but I kind of miss having the “Revelation” up top and throwing in other oddities as the spirit moved.

This theme permits a right-hand sidebar, custom header and something like three footers (Dog only nose why) so maybe we’ll make adjustments on the fly. Hang on, seats and trays in upright positions, turbulence ahead and the pilot seems to be on something.

    1. Paddy me lad, I rode right up to the edge for like the eleventy-seventh time and the Devil said, “Hands off the brakes, son, I’ll take it from here.” I don’t think I crashed. But you know how the Devil is. He likes to let you win a few before he settles down to running the table.

  2. It knows me as well, but I liked the old theme better. I like my theme better, too. I’m using Coraline which has most of the visual things your old Kubric had, but is still a supported by WP free theme. If you wanna see it check out opusthepoet.wordpress.com.

  3. I tried to leave a comment about the theme my blog uses but it appears the bog doesn’t like it. I’m using Coraline at Witch on a Bicycle. I tried to leave a link last time but didn’t this time let’s see how it goes this time.

    1. Opus, looks like Coraline has been retired, like Kubrick. They’ve replaced it with something called “Colinear.” So you may be finding yourself shopping for some new emperor’s clothes as well. It’s tough to be the emperor. Also, breezy.

  4. Looks like a few growing pains, PO’G, but I like the clarity and freshness of the new format. You have a slew of Beta testers who will provide excellent feedback and suggestions, so onward and upward!
And, of course, change is always challenging. Reminds me of the quote: “I’m all for change …… you go first!”
Hope you and Herself are feeling better and wishing you all a speedy, full recovery! 🙂

    1. Thanks, JD. We’re inching our way back to basic functionality. It’s like watching an old Mac boot up from a floppy, only noisier.

Should be interesting to puzzle out all the whys and wherefores of the new setup. I have more options as regards the topside of the blog, where I can place a custom header like the one up there now or a text header with a logo above it. I may switch back and forth between the two; the text-with-logo setup would let me crack wise for special occasions without having to create a new custom header.

  5. I like the openness of the new stuff, however, the sidebar material was interesting and sometimes a trip down memory lane. On the whole, it is tidy and fresh. will see how this reply flies
