Welcome to ground zero

Author and former New York Times reporter Tim Egan has apparently visited Bibleburg and observed the splash from the corporate money shot released by the strong right arm of the Roberts court. Here’s hoping he was wearing his raincoat.

  1. Oofa…thanks for the link to that one Patrick. On my once-in-a-while traipse into TV land the other night at P&M’s house all I saw on the teevee was big pharma ads and left/right skull bashing.

Ain’t it great to be alive in Amurca today?

  2. Mr. Egan writes:
“The court missed the reality of what would happen once the floodgates were opened to the deepest pockets of the biggest players. They turned back a century of fine-tuning the democracy, dating to Teddy Roosevelt’s 1907 curbs, through the Tillman Act, against Gilded Age dominance of elections.”

I’m sorry, but on this point I have to disagree. The majority of the Supreme Court knew PRECISELY what they were doing. Turning back a century of Democracy, you say? Undoing the restrictions imposed on corporations by TR? Well, yea, that was the whole idea. For once they can say “Mission Accomplished” and be correct.
