Ha ha. I like Turk for other roles, too. The Tiger in the Woods and the Tiny White Puppy that Provoked-and-Survived-a-Slaughter.
I watched ‘Redux’ yesterday on AMC. I had never seen ‘Redux’. I thought that AMC dispensed with the end credits. Come to find out Coppola has eliminated the scenes of the compound being destroyed (with credits rolling) as they were misleading the audience to believe that Willard calls in an airstrike. Count me as being mislead all these years….
Libby, I have both, and prefer the original to “Redux.” Frankly, I’m kind of over this pretentious “director’s cut” nonsense. I lost interest in “Blade Runner” about three iterations in.
Make the movie and move on to the next one, sez I. You don’t see me remaking any of my columns, although nearly all of them could do with a facelift and a tummy tuck. I’d rather cook up something fresh. Who wants to keep reheating the same old plate of leftovers day after day?
I agree with you wholeheartedly on this one, O’G, except for the one example you’ve provided. The original theatrical release of Bladerunner was pee-yew bad, with that horrid voice over narration by Harrison Ford. I guess the studio heads thought that the typical movie goer would be too stupid to figure out the movie without being told what’s going on. The second version of Bladerunner, the “director’s cut” is much, much better. As for the two versions they’ve released since then, well those are just to milk more cash out of Bladerunner fans.
“Facelift and tummy tuck” – Hah! Yeah, the added footage was interesting but diluted and detracted from the drama of Willard finally reaching Kurz’s compound.
I saw “The Conversation” for the first time about ten years ago. What a movie!
It’s too grisly to think of The Turk and Mia collaborating in murdering a (toy) mouse but perhaps they could work to troubleshoot your lineup of Macs or induce you to make a little surveillance vid of them.
