Can’t make it all alone

A joyous Christmas Eve to all of yis who keep the joint jumpin’ year in and year out. Here’s hoping Sanity Clause brings us all what we want instead of what we deserve.

* I know, I know, I can’t fool you, there ain’t no Sanity Clause.

Other holiday classics:

• “Father Christmas,” The Kinks.

• “Christmas In Washington,” Steve Earle.

• “Christmas Card From a Hooker In Minneapolis,” Tom Waits.

The Pogues are getting heavy air time in our house. Gotta teach the young’ins proper put-downs, doncha know.

    A merry saturnalia to everyone!

To all you out there ‘HAVE A JOYFUL WINTER SOLSTICE!” Back here in the West Coast (Oregon) it’s finally snowing in the hills and I’m too beat up to even think about cross-country skiing anymore (sigh).

I used to love to downhill ski, but that’s when I actually made enough money doing nerd stuff (Mac uber alles since 1992) and didn’t have to work on the weekends.

  5. Pat O'Brien Says:

Merry Christmas to all! Did our annual screening of “The Blue Brothers” last night. Speaking of blues…..

  6. Sharon Says:

Merry Christmas to you and yours and all the others too! Hope everyone has a most wonderful day.

Happy holidays! I’m another broken-down old timer who used to enjoy skiing on xmas day. Great day for it. This year I’m spending the holiday packing up and getting ready to move. Not far, just from one side of the Peoples’ Republic to the other, but there is still a lot of work to do. Way too much stuff.

Glad to see you included Father Christmas, PO’G. That’s my all-time favorite! Bah humbug!

  8. Hurben Says:

Seasons Greeting from down here in Godszone, where Christmas has passed & the madness of Boxing day sales is about to begin.

No, I won’t be participating, did I mention that the sun is shining & the temperature in Auckland is expected to hit 75Deg F ?

Which bike to ride? decisions, decisions.

  9. Larry T. Says:

Happy Holidays!!! Still toughing it out in SoCal, nice ride on Mountain Drive to work up an appetite for roast pork with garlic and rosemary, homemade pumpkin ravioli with butter and sage + Zio Lorenzo’s special tiramisu for desert.

  10. Steve O Says:

Hey, wondering … as an Air Force brat and Colorado Springer, which version of this story did you grow up with?

  11. Hurben Says:

    This is my version..

  12. Hurben Says:

I spent 20 years doing that shit, until I was gifted the opportunity to come to NZ, I am forever grateful.
