Bluesday

There's a slight chance of snow this morning. Doesn't matter, I'll be inside cooking chicken soup as a deterrent.

The Crud is undefeated and still champeen. It finally got Herself, the last holdout in the Maryland Four, and as I understand it the past couple of days have been as unpleasant as a close working relationship with Ted Cruz.

She’s on her way home as we speak, and I hope she (a) left The Crud back in Maryland, and (2) in her weakened condition doesn’t collect another bug from the pressurized aluminum test tube busy folks use as transportation in these modern times (que viva Air Subaru, baby).

Freelance rumormongers don’t get sick days. We don’t work, we don’t eat. Especially if we’re too busy barfing to cook.

Bummer. Tell Herself to get well soon. Do you have the creeping crudlies as well?

I didn’t quite make 62 clicks. Abandoned ship a few clicks short of the target. The expected storm hit a couple hours early on Sunday, and I spent the last hour climbing back into bombtown in an increasingly cold and increasingly strong headwind, complete with snow. Made it home and promptly into a hot shower, but spent the rest of the day popping Advil and liquid painkiller because I apparently strained my right ankle by pedaling so hard into that wind.

Getting old sucks, but I guess it beats the alternative…

Will do, K. No crudlies for me, yet, but I am not optimistic. This bug is an efficient little predator. I’ve been living on green chile stew as a prophylactic measure and am brewing a pot of chicken noodle soup for backup.

Meanwhile, moreover, furthermore, and too, a happy birthday to yis, and good on you for braving the weather. After sampling that bitter wind I awarded myself a recovery day.

Well, Khal, I won’t tell you about Gwyne, a guy in our riding group who does his age plus one mile every year. He was 90 this year. He is a really nice guy, originally from Scotland, and his accent reminds me of my Scottish grandmother. So, good on him. Oops, I guess I just told you. He did it in great SE AZ weather. If it makes you feel better, I haven’t ridden since Xmas. I hope to change that Thursday, and I hope Gwyne is there.

Here’s hoping Herself has nice flights with no delay. I hope her discomfort evaporates as soon as she comes in her own door into her own house. “Do not leave the neighborhood.”

Things are getting REAL ugly in the presidential contest.

I clicked on the link to the Ted Cruz article in your post and as it populated the screen, it became obscured by a pop-up ad for Hillary Clinton. That takes balls.
