  1. I think the Next Big Thing® will be reverse selfies: not pix of ourselves, but pix of where we are going. GoPro will shrink down their helmet cams into the new NoseCam™, which mounts into a BreathRight strip, which will create first-person shooter-style perspectives.

    1. Gawd, I hope not. Given the lack of good sense in this country, I don’t want to see where people are going. Next thing you know, there will be reverse-selfies of someone standing in front of a urinal.

  2. After another cup of coffee, I think the line you appear to be taking is best. Still find the view of drop bars and knobbies strange. If I ever rode that trail with you, I will be on the Niner mountain bike.

    1. I gave away my 700-43’s for the LaCruz because I never used them. I do have an old set of 26-2.1 Richey folding cross tires for the Long Haul Trucker, which I have occasionally done overland work with. It has drop bars and nice, low range gears courtesy of a 48-36-24 triple crank and 11-34 on the back.Sports an older set of 9 speed Dura-Ace bar-ends. Pic here.

  3. Whoa, rough terrain. Hope you’ve got a nice low gear for that stretch.

Anticipating that I’d drag my SOMA through stuff like this, had American Cyclery give me some mt bike gearing on the rear cassette. Works wonders for my old tire legs – dirt and street alike.

  4. Meanwhile, it seemed a whole lot of folks got their chamois-in-a-bunch over MUD at Paris-Roubaix. I’m wondering if the “extreme weather protocol” has pushed CYA to a new high? Luckily it seems some smart folks just hosed off the pave so we’re all good.
