A new dawn

It’s a beautiful day in this neighborhood, a beautiful day for a neighbor. Would you be mine? Could you be mine?

Thanks to everyone for chiming in with their thoughts about El Bloggeroo, as we say down here south of the border.

I particularly liked Herb’s notion of going 30 days without a post mentioning … well, you know. That guy.

So, let’s! Starting today. For the next 30 days, anyone craves the latest news, analysis and commentary on that particular topic will have to look elsewhere while we air out the joint. Smells like bronzer and Coca-Cola in here.

  1. have you ever heard the song ‘little fluffy clouds’ from the orb? every time i see your cloud pictures it reminds me of that tune. ricky lee jones does some of the narration.

    1. Yeah, Herself and I used to crack wise about that every time we saw some nifty clouds. I had no idea Ricky Lee Jones had a hand in it. She’s the chick Tom Waits has cuddled up against the T-bird on the back cover of “Blue Valentine,” y’know.

Here’s one of my fave RLJ tunes:

    1. Pro cycling? OK, here goes. All kinds of talk about Froome and “the double” as if this is somehow much, much easier than winning the Giro and Tour in the same year. But NOBODY has ever won the Tour and Vuelta in the same year unless it was back when the Vuelta was before the Giro. Will this year’s race live up to the hype? LeTour rarely does but I guess we can hope?

  2. EXCELLENT SUGGESTION! I feel better already… Thanks.

  3. More music. “Feelin’ Good”.
Patrick, your title inspired me to seek out the original Broadway cast recording. The recordings of Nina Simone and now Michael Bublé may be more familiar than composer Anthony Newley’s (co-composer Leslie Bricusse) version. From “The roar of the greasepaint the smell of the crowd”(1965).

  4. Can you write on the Turk and Miss Mia, and how they’ve adapted to life in your new city? With photos.
