Same shot, different day. I could still catch a whiff of the Buzzard Fire, now scorching 15,313 acres (h/t Pat O’B), but it seemed the winds were taking the bulk of the smoke elsewhere.
I was making my own smoke here yesterday, firing up the Char-Broil gas grill for the first time this season. Steak and taters and salad, oh my. Oh, boy, hey, hey, it’s a national holiday.
But Mad Dog and his band of jerks aren’t lighting off the fireworks. It’s enough of a thrill just to grill.

Went for a spin on Saga this morning. Is that two riders in the distance, or walkers?

Riders, Pat. The climb to the tram is a popular one. And this being a holiday weekend there were a ton of people out and about.
It’s part of a 20-mile suburban circuit I devised that gains about 1,500 feet of vertical in non-life-threatening fashion. There are a jillion little out-and-back ascents that branch off the circuit, so I can ramp up the degree of difficulty as the spirit moves, even throw in a little single-track for flavor.
The climb up Tramway proper from I-25 is a nice steady-state grind, but I wasn’t going down there on a holiday weekend. There’s a casino near the bottom and a wine festival going on in Balloon Fiesta Park.

My weekend was a little work and a little fun http://cycleitalia.blogspot.com/2018/05/giro-ditalia-stage-20-cervinia.html on Saturday, then nothing-but-fun on Sunday – a nice ride to a hilltop wine town, a panino and glass of vino, then looping back to Piedmont Cycling Resort to catch the finale of the Giro on TV,
Today it’s back-to-work supporting some clients on an overnight excursion and tomorrow a ride and visit to Castellania of Fausto Coppi fame.
