And they’re off!

You just knew there was gonna be some sunflowers involved, amirite?

Any bets as to whether they make it to Paris?

In case you can’t read The New York Times story, enjoy this howler from Le Tour general director Christian Prudhomme, discussing whether a squad with a shot at the yellow jersey might try to circumvent the race’s plague protocols should The Bug® join the team late in the game.

Prudhomme dismissed such concerns, arguing that it was “everyone’s responsibility” to respect the protocols. “I don’t see how people wouldn’t respect the rules,” he said.

Ho, ho, etc. Laugh, I thought I’d die.  I was born at night, Christian old scout, but it wasn’t last night.

How I miss those April Fools howlers.

  2. Dale Says:

They haven’t dealt so well with doping, so how can they deal with the pandemic?

BTW Kristoff took stage one (yeah, I followed on the Guardian).

  3. Libby Says:

I’m watching the 1st stage on replay. And, still in the neutralized zone and already I know the winner – thanks! – “spoilers sweetie“ as River Song says in Dr. Who.
I’ll keep watching. I’ll have to avoid reading the blog until I watch the stage.
Mr. Andrew Hood is providing Man on the Scene reportage for NBC. Ex-pro Adam Blythe is on the moto with reports on course.

My man Hoody is doing the teevee? And here I always thought he had a radio face, like Your Humble Narrator.

      • Dale Says:

Was not Mr. Hood cloaked? There must have been a security breach.

      • Libby Says:

Haven’t seen his face – yet. Might not. I think he will be audio only unless he videos himself or NBC hires a local videographer. The usual NBC on air talent is in the US, with the exception of Phil Liggett who is in London. I don’t know if NBC has any personnel there.
Mr. Hood does have a great voice.

      • Patrick O'Grady Says:

The Hoodlum is one of the good ones. He and Lawyer Pelkey have many a tale to tell of their years on the Tour, as soon as various statutes of limitations (and more than a few witnesses) expire.

  4. SAO' Says:

    Just.

    Say.

    No.
