You can’t make this shit up. “Liz Bourgeois?” Yeah, right. Who’s her supervisor, Heywood Jablomie?

This story, like so many others, reminded me of a “Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers” cartoon by Gilbert Shelton. Here’s the entire ’toon.

Long live the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers! And of course, chapeau to Gilbert Shelton.

We seem to have something like a breathable atmosphere today, for the moment. But holy hell, Oregon. My cousin Joe Thompson, Jones Bikes, and United Bicycle Institute are in Ashland. Co-Motion is in Eugene. And Portland. Yow, etc.

John Slawta – Landshark was at one time up in the hills above Phoenix south of Ashland. Phoenix along with Talent was one of the communities that was devastated in the fire down there. Apparently the state police are looking into the possibility of arson.

I think Jeff Jones was in Talent for a while, too. When I first heard of him, he was in Medford. Now he’s in Ashland. Or at least that’s where he’s getting his mail.
That’s pretty country down there, or it was, anyway. I rode there just once, while visiting relatives, but I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Gee, bad trip for Fat Freddy’s Cat in that followup comic.

The short “Fat Freddy’s Cat” strip was one of the highlights of the “Freak Brothers” ’toons. The roaches were an ongoing gag. They evolved from a fascist state to a monarchy over the life of the strip.

I remember those strips, amazingly enough. I guess I wasn’t stoned enough at the time…

O, that’s OK. I was stoned enough for both of us.
