‘Atmospheric River’

Ghost anglers in the sky.

Can you fish an atmospheric river? Maybe. But you’ll need a strong casting arm or a flying longboat.

What Ken Layne has is a leak in his roof (or two, or three). But he’s fishing that atmospheric river anyway from the pier at Desert Oracle Radio. And he wants us in that celestial skiff with him.

“So get a bucket or a cereal bowl or something and we’ll all paddle to Hell together,” he sez. Row, row, row your boat, gently down the sky. …

  1. We have a niece who lives in San Rafael with her husband and two little daughters. Their house is way up in the hills, so this atmospheric river phenomenon gives us little comfort.

    1. It’s pretty up there, but damn, the damp crept right down into a fella’s bones and made itself at home. I couch-surfed around Santa Rosa for a spell before getting the job in Corvallis, up in Oregon, and 40 years later I’m still getting over the ill effects.

So are the owners of the various couches.

  2. Mark Zuckerburg, an empty vessel to be filled with evil.” “The first social media post, god forgive us”. “….don’t give a donkey’s genitalia.”
I’m hooked; this guy is good and reminds me of some other howling dog who thinks deep and speaks softly.

    1. He’s interesting, isn’t he? Got quite a pedigree, too. He has been there and done that.

“Ah, well. What are we coming to? Something. Always something. … Mesopotamia was something like Phoenix. … Sell the condo, get some cattle, and just wander. …”

I like the weather report: “Maybe consider getting a dog. … might want to get a couple of dogs. Or get more familiar with that good-looking neighbor you keep running into at the post office. Come up with something kinda normal, you know? Don’t be all weird. You can work up to the weird stuff.”

Can you imagine stumbling across that on the FM dial as you’re motoring through the desert with a head full of something interesting and illegal? Hijo, madre.
