Show Low suspect behind bars

Shawn Michael Chock.

Finally, a bit of follow-up regarding the vehicular assault on the Bike the Bluff race June 19 in Show Low, Ariz.

According to the White Mountain Independent, suspect Shawn Michael Chock faces 20 felony counts — 10 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument; nine counts of leaving the scene of a collision involving serious injury; and one count of unlawful flight from law enforcement.

Chock was charged in Navajo County Superior Court, but the state Department of Public Safety is handling the inquiry. No trial date has been set.

The suspect was hospitalized after being shot, presumably by police. He was shifted to the Coconino County slammer in Flagstaff on July 2.

Six of the seven cyclists hospitalized remain so, according to the Independent.

If he were in New Mexico, he would have been released on his own recognizance and the judge would have taken his truck in for detailing before returning the keys.

He just looks like he is angry at the world and everyone in it.

BTW, we are binge watching the three seasons of “Miss Fisher’s Mysteries”. The interesting bit is that Essie Davis, also in “Game of Thrones,” and Nathan Page, ex pro cyclist, are the stars in these mysteries. Good stuff if you haven’t seen them.

  4. Herb from Michigan Says:

Is it too much to ask for death by firing squad for this guy? I know at least six cyclists who would volunteer to be on the squad. We could let POB choose the music while we march this cretin out for his last look at blue skies

Have a better solution down here in New Mexico. A 22 round to each kneecap and toss him in the middle of the Jornada del Muerto at sunrise, along with a bottle of salt water to drink.

I’ma go out on a limb here and say it’s a bad idea to have meth and Thunderbird for breakfast.

      • khal spencer Says:

Given the number of citizens out this way who have been getting in the way of police bullets, I suspect there are quite a few of our fellow ‘murrcans who have been on that “smoke my meth and shoot me in the morning” regimen. Been crazy up here. I see from the paper that one of Albuquerque’s finest is in the hospital after finding himself in the crossfire of the latest Midnight Shootout while on his way to another call.

        Yikes.

      • Pat O'Brien Says:

What’s the word? Thunderbird! But, only if there is no Mad Dog 20/20 to be found.
