We’re taking out the garbage, but we’ll be back later for some observations and a Thanksgiving dinner that couldn’t be beat (if Officer Obie doesn’t get us en route).
While you wait, walk into the shrink, wherever you are, and sing a bar of “Alice’s Restaurant.”
Looks I’m on the Group W bench this year. The kids passed a bug around last week, and when the music stopped, i couldn’t find a chair. So Bruno and I will be feasting on grilled ham and cheese and tomato soup while everyone else is in Nebraska.
Gotta make the best out of it. So when it comes back around on the guitar, going to sing in with feeling and in four part harmony …
O, shoot. Sorry to hear it. Herself and Beth both have colds, thanks to recent travel by flying aluminum test tube, so two parts of the singing of “Alice’s Restaurant” were a tad on the nasal side.
Get well quick Shannon and Beth! Going out for a buffet, so today there will be no cooking or cleaning at this joint. Then over to friend’s house for Mexican train dominoes. Then back home to tickle the Godin for awhile. After that, a movie, probably “Knives Out.”
We’re doing baked salmon and lobster tails with sides of taters, asparagus, and green salad, plus raspberry cobbler for dessert. The cleanup will be epic. I think your plan sounds betterer than ours. So does Hal, who motored down to Taos with the family to spend a couple days.
As always, thank you, Patrick, for offering up one of the best song ballads ever written and performed. And as always, I can remember the church, Stockbridge, and the original newspaper story framed and posted on the wall of the church, as I was there some years back. So much of the “massacre” is true that I believe every part of that song happened as he tells it. Ya’all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

You’re welcome, K. We just gave it a listen over tea and toast in the kitchen. Nothing like a morning singalong.
