The big O

You get a sky shot! And you get a sky shot! And you get a sky shot. …

I have never paid the least bit of attention to Oprah Winfrey, not even when she sat down with Ol’ Whatsisface to chat about how it really wasn’t about the bike.

But after last night I can see why so many other people have.

Holy hell. There must be a metric shit-ton of folks who wish she’d run for office, and even more who pray she never does.

I have paid some attention to Bill Clinton, and often wish I hadn’t, especially after doing it again last night. (See Hunter S. Thompson on Mister Bill in “Better Than Sex: Confessions of a Political Junkie.”)

After watching Mister Bill polish his own idol for the better part of quite some time it was a positive relief to hear Coach Walz singing Americana a cappella. I am not and never will be a football fan, but I’m finding the Democrats’ sense of play in this go-round as refreshing as a cold beer in the cheap seats.

  1. With all due respect to that old codger, we coulda done without Bill Clinton last night. By the end of his speech, I was tired of it. And boy, they sure could have cut to the chase on Walz. I thought I was going to have to come back this morning to see him finally say his piece.

I skipped the celebrities. Meena agreed that Oprah gave a good talk, but I get bored with celebrities lecturing me on politics. For that matter, I get bored with politicians lecturing me on politics.

    1. The problem the Dems have with Bill (well, one of a dozen non-Epstein related problems) is that he has spoken at 12 consecutive conventions, so no one wants to be the one to tell Cal Ripken Jr that he should take a night off, rest up the old rotator cuffs and soak in the hot tub while the rest of the gang hits the field.

(Can’t find the link … read something about the new Apple Watch operating system will allow you to enter rest days in your workouts and it doesn’t cancel your streaks. So this guy came forward who had bought the Series One in April 2015, and he has closed his workout streak 3,408 consecutive days since then.)
