The “good” news is, beginning July 1 cyclists in New Mexico can enjoy the infamous “Idaho Stop,” which means they can treat red lights as stop signs and stop signs as yields.
The bad news is, they may not be able to see oncoming motor vehicles through the dust storms.
Just another way to get “dusted” in The Duck! City.

It’s the same weather here. Kind gives “done and dusted” a whole new meaning.
Had some winds blow thru here Sunday we did. Like 70-80 mph that pulled trees right out of the ground and dropped them on neighbors houses and cars parked in driveway. Power outages a-plenty. But since I bought a big-ass Honda generator a few years back, my juice seems to stay on. Fine by me. Running a gas generator is bad juju in so many ways. Sorry about the dust y’all are swallowing which would drive me totally nuts.
On another more positive note I did get the bottom bracket loose on Bike A to transfer to Bike B without having to use explosives (and a call to Khal) so stay tuned for more Soma Mixte news. And I think POG is lying about being short on 32c tires…..he knows I have a lot of frequent flyer points banked.
We had a little power blip, but the trees are all upright, so, winning. The dust is just what my allergies needed to keep them company, though.
Well done on the BB. We’ll look forward to Further Dispatches from the Front.
Me, I’m short on 32mms because I only have one bike that needs ’em, the Nobilette, which I ordered before even bigger tires got to be A Thing. These days I run 38s on almost everything and 42s on the Double Cross and Voodoo Wazoo.
The DBR Prevail TT maxes out at 28mm, which is really pushing my luck. At the moment it’s wearing 25s, and even then I can’t push a fully inflated tire past the brake pads. Sheesh.
Just flew in from Asheville, NC. Could barely see the place, and I think the pilot was happy to land the plane wheels side down.
But are your arms tired? (Badaboom, badabing. …)
