OK, so I lied. I stayed up and watched. Just snacking and watching the body count pile up.
“Keep comin’. …”
POW! Thump. Rinse and repeat.
It didn’t get old. Not one itty bitty bit.
Herself is elsewhere on a work trip, but we were cackling to each other over Messages.
“Suck on that, Orange Hitler!”
“Booyah! In yo’ FACE!”
Mind you, that was the polite portion of our live commentary. Even the writers of “Deadwood” would’ve found the rest of it appalling.
“Language!”
Anyhoo.
I’d hate to be a janitor at the White House this morning. Fuck a bunch of buckets and mops. Get the industrial power washer out, son! That shit ain’t gonna just jump off the walls and ceilings by itselfs.
And the national mess will require some rolled-up sleeves and elbow grease as well. Politics remains a dirty game, and it ain’t gonna get any prettier if the national legislature starts going mano-a-mano with an executive that has lost all executive function and a judicial branch that needs a vigorous pruning. Your basic long uphill pull into a stiff wind, is what.
But I gotta tell ya. Last night?
It never got old.
More later. Chime in here as you please.
Here in PA-10, our local MAGAt congressman and former Freedom Caucus chair, Sedition Scott Perry, got handed his walking papers by a 10 point margin. No word on whether he’s going to concede or cry voter fraud. When he wins, well, the election is free and fair, but when he loses? He voted against certifying the 2020 presidential election, so we’ll see.
I’ve been burned by optimism too many times. And we’re still a country where 51% of white people voted Rethuglican. 60% of white men without a college degree voted GOP. We still got work to do.
Six months ago, I was expecting martial law.
Today?
I think TFG checked his bank account, saw how much he had made these last two years, remembered that he has pardon authority, and he’s ready to call it quits.
Can’t wait for his memoir.
Watch Fred Wellman in Missouri, MO2. Dude is pretty old to be a political rookie, but he’s got a Hollywood-ready resume.
As Stewart O’Grady used to frequently say, “It was a tough slog.” Congress has a tough slog ahead. But, the mere threat of investigation will get the cabinet roaches running for the dark places to hide. Maybe even the head cockroach.
As soon as they are sworn in, and lap dog johnson will love doing that, the new gang should demand all Epstein/Trump files, unredacted, by close of that business day as the law requires.
I guess I called it yesterday around noon. I posted this during a discussion on the Santa Fe New Mexican:

Here is my analysis. I’m not a political prognosticator, nor do I play one on TV. I think the GOP is going to get hammered today, both statewide and nationwide.
In 2016, it was Dem volunteers who had to try to woo “tired voters”, to use Michael Moore’s description, to the polls. A lot of us were not particularly thrilled with Hillary Clinton. Having been born and raised in her “basket of deplorables” I held my nose and voted for Wall Street Wooing Hillary.
This time, the shoe is on the other foot. Unless a Republican is a die hard Trump True Believer or one of those Flight 93 voters on the Right who think the Democrats are the demon party from Hell, I suspect that right leaning voters are pretty disillusioned with the state of the nation.
Why? Bogus investigations, heavy handed ICE tactics sweeping up good people instead of real bad guys, self-enriching corruption in the Trump family, incompetence named Hegseth, Kennedy, or fill in the blanks, high prices, misguided tariffs, stupidly attacking allies and wooing despots, and a stalemated war that has the potential for catastrophic outcomes. Not to mention, Ukraine. Did I miss anything?
Meanwhile, Democrats and many independents also see this as a Flight 93 election (see above reasons) and are likely coming out in droves. We got up this morning and headed straight to our polling station.
So it would not surprise me if GOP voting is depressed. It comes to holding one’s nose and voting or just doing something else today. I’m sorry to see that. I value a balanced party system.
