Did I miss anything? I was feeling beat, pissy and unfunny and decided to toddle off for a high cranial colonic, the mental equivalent of a radiator flush. Lord, how that corrosion does build up.
While at large I ignored the news, the Innertubes and pretty much everything else save steering the old two-wheeler around, eating, and watching lots of TV like reg’lar folks. I can recommend the new Louis C.K. standup, “Oh My God.” “Prometheus,” not so much.
In short, I spent the week not being me, which can be curiously refreshing. Tomorrow I’ll put on a freshly reddened rubber nose. Now, please, everyone, lock your wigs, let the air out of your shoes and prepare yourselves for a period of simulated exhilaration. Welcome to … The Future!

WTF?
Not a Firesign Theatre fan, K? “I Think We’re All Bozos On This Bus” is a classic, one of my favorite monkey-wrenching tales from the Sixties. I may have to listen to it again today.
I’m quite familiar with Firesign, Patrick. They are among my touchstones to sanity.
Something weird happened. Either I was hallucinating or I was watching a video on your site of a lifeguard making a mixed drink. Do you have popups on this site now?
Hm. Something weird indeed. I’m not seeing any popups (Mac OS X 10.6.8, Safari 5.1.8, Firefox 20.0). Anyone else sharing Khal’s hallucination? This being a free WordPress site rather than the old self-hosted model, anything is possible.
Maybe it was a popup on one of the two NY Times links you provided. Or a flashback from something I ingested in college. Beats me.
I couldn’t reproduce it this morning, but then again that was with a slightly clearer head (aside from a massive sinus headache from our spring bloom of chamisa and juniper) having purged the Spanish red brain eraser from my bloodstream.
Welcome back OG, I think. Still here in paradise hoping to get my wife back from her academic projects over in the US of A, provided they can find an air traffic controller or two to guide some airliners that is. The in-laws arrive this evening so it’s a mixed bag as they say. We’ll take ’em around here in Siracusa and Sicily…and they’ll pay for dinner…..truly a mixed bag but someone’s got to do it.
The Elefinks are all in a lather over the sudden ATC shortage, eh? I guess it never occurred to them that when you spend less money, you often receive fewer goods and services. Funny how that works. Or maybe not.
That sounds like a fine thing to do. Thanks for the suggestion. However, the only thing that will be on the TV will be my favorite movies. I am going to start with the HD remastered “African Queen” and go from there. See ya next week.
Sometimes it’s useful to turn down the volume, Patrick. I should pull these little getaways more often. Maybe I will, if spring ever gets here. I have a bunch of bikes to ride and it ain’t like I don’t need the exercise.
You are right!
@KS: WordPress throws up ads on the blogsite if you view it on a mobile device. I see them when I read the blog on my iPhone, but not on my laptop.
Yes! Just now an ” iPhone Challenge” ad. But sometimes I have thought PO’G has posted a video and it is just an ad!
