Yow. Straight from Lycra to neoprene in one fell swoop.
It’s a bracing 12 degrees outside, and the few inches of snow were of the annoying variety — light enough to broom, but glazing slowly upward from sidewalk level, so I actually had to shovel for a change.
Well, we’ll take water in whichever form it chooses in these parts, as long as it arrives in reasonable quantities.
That means no more floods, please. Let’s stick to manmade disasters for a change, shall we?

AIn’t it great? Onliest place I know where you can start the day with frostbite and end it with heatstroke.

Yeah. 24 degrees and about 25 mph out of the west this morning. This weather might put a dent in that idea of riding my age. Unless it is my age in inches.

Or millimeters. Eleven degrees here at 7:15 p.m. This keeps up, it might be nearly as cold as Iowa one of these days.

Ha! Minus 2 last night. 5 when I feed the dog and 9 with -12 wind chill when I took him to the dog park at 10am (can’t keep a young Lab down or things get chewed). Not too bad, but I’ve perfected the style of dressing like being on the DEW line in December. The Lab takes it all in stride for 45 minutes to an hour.
Saw a commuter in office slacks and watch cap with a pea coat bike by.
Due to get colder still.

Oh, man, when the temps dip below zero I am ever so glad not to be trotting out to the woodpile, in the dark, at 8,800 feet. There’s something to be said for natural-gas heat in January.

I’m waiting for tomorrow, when it’s s’posed to be 55 degrees again. it’s 9 now.
Three days of fitty-sumpin’ and then zango! Back in the icebox. I’m gonna need a tire iron to pry my big ass out of this office chair.

Cold snap today with 58 and wind on tap. But, slight chance of rain tonight and tomorrow. One can hope. Khal, happy birthday again on the right day this time. Sweet sixty, baby. Last 10 years have been some of the best in my life. Ride, drink and eat, then be merry.

You’re all making me feel glad that we’re stuck between 39 and 42 every day for the last week or more here in Dysfunction Junction. It’s been a bit on the chilly side but at least we’re consistent. I’ve managed to get in a couple two or three hour rides and come home with all my digits being in place and the right color, so I’m good with it.
Meanwhile, what the fuck is going on over in your part of the state, PO’G? http://gazette.com/driver-wont-stand-trial-in-fatal-bicycle-crash/article/1513252?custom_click=rss
