What a view! Again.
When I get discouraged, I clean something. It is a cathartic activity. You know, cleansing to get cleansed from the toro poo poo that is our political process. Toilets and bikes work best to get one’s mind off of POS like the Dumpster. Don’t forget that bicycles really like a good coat of carnauba wax as a final touch. As Steve Gravenites said, “Cleaning a bike is like cleaning a toilet. If you do it regularly it’s fine and easy. If you wait, it’s a truly disgusting experience.”
I usually jump on a bike, or lace up the running shoes, and go sweat a bit. That ordinarily does the trick for me. Put the mind in neutral and let the body take care of business for a while.
Today I pulled the Co-Motion Divide Rohloff off its hook, aired up the tires, made certain I remembered how to disconnect the Rohloff box in case I needed to fix a rear flat, and played around on the trails for about 90 minutes.
Y’know, that’s a pretty damn nice bike. I was only planning to be out for an hour, but added a second lap of this short loop I was doing because I was enjoying myself so much.
