Fat Tuesday

As you can see, Il Fattini is already contemplating his holiday shopping.
As you can see, Il Fattini is already contemplating his holiday shopping.

Hm, seems to have gotten a bit Novemberish out there all of a sudden. Forty. Seventy percent humidity. Gasp, etc.

So much for the bad news. The good news is that you can finally order your Old Guy Who Gets Fat In Winter kit in a long-sleeved version.

Think of it as that extra layer for a fella who doesn’t really need one.

And the better news is that Voler is doing a 20 percent off sale this week and the discount is extended to the gravity-impaired members of the Old Guys community. Customers using the promo code SAVEGUYS will receive 20 percent off all Voler Store items, including the OGWGFIW collection.

Finally, and perhaps best of all — for those of you living outside the newly declared People’s Republic of Kakistostan, Voler has begun shipping to Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Iceland, Irish Republic, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

So, remember, buy early, buy often. We’d like to have the bunker finished by Inauguration Day and all the contractors want cash up front for any Trump-related construction projects.

  1. OK PO’G, Done. I left most of my long-sleeved jerseys in Italy so your offer comes at the perfect time, especially with the bro-deal discount! I ordered one size smaller than my usual Italian-made jersey size so my fingers are crossed that this will fit. I figure it can’t be too hard to find a home for a long-sleeve size L if not?

      1. Good to know as I thought made-to-order would result in me owning the L whether it fit or not. I figured offering it to another Maddog blog reader would be my only way out if I screwed up the sizing. We’re in the process of moving from our previous Italian kit supplier to Nalini/Moa Sport and I seem to be one size down in their sizing, so I figured Voler, more used to fitting corn-fed (in this case pasta-fed) ‘Muricans would likely be even a bit larger, which for winter/long sleeves is just fine.
If Hurben can’t get Voler to send him Maddog stuff in NZ, he could always have it shipped to one of us here in the USA who could then simply send it off to him?

  2. 20% off the whole Voler store? And delivery to New Zealand? You are some deal maker. You hear that Hurben? You’re in mate thanks to the OGWGFIWRT directeur sportif, Mad Dog hisself.

    Now to go browse.

    1. And given I have been off the bike since mid-August due to my propensity to get hurt this year, it will definitely be true to my current “form”.

    2. “Form” is an elusive quality. I don’t know that I’ve actually had it since about March 2010. Plus I always have a significant downturn after Interbike. I’m always sick of bicycles for a while after I come back from that thing.

  3. Hi Patrick, sadly, upon ordering, it’s the usual,

“We are unable to ship your order internationally, please create/choose an alternate shipping address below.”

Given it’s the 21st Century, this pisses me off.

    1. Damn. Lemme tug on some sleeves, see what’s going on there. A thousand I’m-sorries, Hurben.

The DrunkCyclist kit is always an eye-opener, for sure. I have two versions of that one. Another keeper is the all-black Evil Cycling kit. Just got their socks, but one of these days, I need to score the jersey.

  4. Many thanks, Po’G, Po’B & Larry.

I’ll worry about this after my return from Taupo.

I’m busy throwing gear into the Toyota & trying to convince the wife that it’s only for a weekend, she doesn’t need 10 outfits, (best of luck with that).

  5. Success!!

I redid my profile on the Voler site & suddenly all was sweetness & light.

They happily took my money & a deuce of OGWGFIWRT tops will be on their way down under.

Oh yeah, Taupo was the usual good times, even got a commemorative 40th Anniversary medal at the finish.
