Opportunity knocks, damply

Looking west from a floodplain east of Tramway.

I hit the sweet spot, which is to say the dry spot, on today’s ride.

The rain was pissing down at oh-dark-thirty when I sent Herself off to toil at Darth Perry’s Death Star, so I decided to eat a medium-heavy breakfast and wait it out.

Come 11 it was still gray and brisk outdoors, but the roads were mostly dry, so I kitted up, grabbed a fendered Soma Saga and a rain jacket, and logged an easy hour of spinning without incident. I even had the leisure to take a break and snap the pic up top.

Now that I’m home and full of lunch, it’s pissing down again. Winning! MASA!*

  1. PO’G: Great photo and good on ya for getting out in THE GREAT OUTDOORS…..and self-propelled! 🙂

Sooooo….let’s see…… a “medium-heavy breakfast”….then lunch……and I’d like to think an ABQ or Santa Fe green chili dinner, or such, to ensure the pipes are clean and you’re ready for another great ride tomorrow. ??????

    1. Actually, JD, I went with oatmeal for the breakfast (fortified with nuts, fruit, honey and maple syrup), while lunch was a pre-Mexican posole verde with a big hunk of buttered baguette (I had tortillas but wanted bread for some reason).

No ride today, alas. It hasn’t stopped raining since I got home yesterday. The ceiling is down to about eyebrow level and it’s looking like a glorious day to stay indoors and finish off that posole.

  2. Nice pic! Rabbitbrush central right there. Rained all afternoon here, but we missed the big arroyo rollers. I had a dry hour to take my Saga and ES to the shop for sacrifice. The Sage is on consignment, the ES is for cannabilizing to build the Double Cross Disc.

    1. The Great Old Bicycle Gods demand sacrifice. Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn! Which translates loosely as “In his bike shop at R’lyeh dead Cthulhu lies waiting for a customer.”

  3. Nothing like taking a bike with fenders out and daring it to rain! Especially since even if it does, it’s far less miserable to finish the ride. I have some Crud Roadracer fenders packed for the coming winter in Italy, just-in-case.
