We’re coming in hot

Now you listen, and you listen close: Voting the rascals out is no different than riding a bicycle. It’s just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.

Main problem today is that in the People’s Republic, there is only one name on the ballot for the legislature and for the 3rd District, Congress.

Vote, comrade. Any candidate as long as it is blue.

    • Patrick O'Grady Says:

We had to deal with that in Bibleburg. The city and county were so reliably hard-right Elefink that Donks didn’t bother to field candidates for a lot of contests, particularly at the local level. You’d see the R on your ballot and that was it. Unless a Nazi, Klansman or Libertarian snuck in.

I dropped off my ballot a couple of weeks ago. Good luck to us all! We’ll learn our fate soon enough. I’m hoping for a big Blue Wave but worry that it might be more like a ripple.

    • Patrick O'Grady Says:

Good on ye, Debby. We’ve been watching a lot of “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” on Netflix to prepare for tonight’s election coverage. I’m not sure which will be more helpful, “Upper Class Twit of the Year” or “The Cheese Shop.” In any event, I imagine the Gumbys will be heavily involved.

      • debby511 Says:

Ha! The Cheese Shop is one of my all time favorites. I grew up on Monty Python, have seen them all many, many times.

        My brain hurts, doctor!

We leave at 0-dark:30 tomorrow AM so I don’t know how long I’ll watch TV’s election results before hitting the hay. Gawd help us all!

    • Patrick O'Grady Says:

We’ll all find out soon enough, hey? Good luck and safe travels to you and The Professor. Keep us posted from the other side of the pond.

    • Pat O'Brien Says:

Nothing but a wake up now Larry! Have a smooth trip! Remember to take some decent snacks along. We always carry 2 or 3 Clif Bars apiece for emergency rations when flying.

      • larryatcycleitalia Says:

Clif bars? On a flight to ITALY? Surely you jest. I’ll starve myself rather than eat stuff like that when I know real food is coming.
As you might guess, after enduring this flight so many times, I have an eating plan all figured out: We leave too early to bother eating anything before we check-in and board the first flight so it’s breakfast at ORD, probably a ‘Murican eggs, potatoes and cured meat kind of thing after a second-rate cappuccino from Argo Tea.
Next it’s VinoVolo at JFK for a wine sampling with some antipasto-type snacks. On the flight to Milan we’ll eat whatever sounds the least awful (but NEVER pasta) with a bottle or two of vino to wash the bad taste away.
By then I’m usually sleepy so then I’ll wake up to the generally awful breakfast type thing they hand out which I eat just a bite or two of since I know real cappuccino and pastry await at MXP in Milan. Then we get our rental car, pile in the way-too-much stuff we’re flying over with and blast off to Piedmont Cycling Resort to stash most of it and then settle in to a full-course meal. I’m hoping they have some white truffles around as this will be our only chance at ’em this season.
The next morning we’re off to Sicily (with far less luggage) where I hope to be enjoying a fresh seafood dinner of some sort that evening at one of my favorite eateries, depending on who is open this time of year.
It’s tough, but someone has to do it, right?

I’m usually flying to Kentucky. Clif Bars are fine cuisine on that trip.

      Happy Landings!

Sometimes it seems that Mel Brooks knows more than we want to admit about politics today.

  7. Hurben Says:

I’ve stocked up with some cans of this in anticipation..

  8. Steve O Says:

And with 1% of the precincts reporting, we can predict … at least two more years of things probably getting worse.

    Come back, Woody Guthrie …

  9. khal spencer Says:

With 7% reporting, Steve King is losing to J.D. Schlolten, 51% to 47%.

  10. Pat O'Brien Says:

    Blue wave.

  11. Herb from Michigan Says:

Well here in Michigan we did make some notable gains. First we elected a very capable woman for Govenor over a real slimeball. Kept our female Dem senator, added in a few more Dem women to the US. House. And passed an anti gerrymandering law. While we still have plenty of conservative turds sparkling on the lawn of a new day; ya gotta start somewhere. Huge voter turnout too.
