Well, now that we’ve made a mess of this place, I see we’re scoping out some new real estate.
Mars looks like a fixer-upper to me — “Kansas without the corn,” say mission scientists — so no doubt we’ll get a good price and a hell of an interest rate.
I don’t expect we’ll get the damage deposit back on this rental, though.
Hope the new neighbors are cool. Hey, look, the Welcome Wagon! Ack ack ack!

Amazing stuff from those NASAers. 12300 mph to zero and a soft landing, all in 6.5 minutes. Whew!

Helluva job of parking for a first-timer.
I watched the NASA feed after my morning run, while I was lifting. It reminded me of the sylvan days of my youth, when we camped in front of the TV to watch the Mercury and Gemini launches.
Once Neil Armstrong parked his puppies on the moon I figured it was a matter of time before we would construct a base to use as a springboard to Mars. Escaping Earth’s gravity accounts for a lot of the cost and other hazards associated with space travel, as I understand it, and with craft launching from Luna we’d be keeping the bean-counters happy.
Alas, a matter of time it was, has been and still is. Now only the bots go boldly where no one has gone before. Beep click whir.

I was one of those who parked myself in front of any TV during early space missions. As I got older, I began to think about the moon missions and how one was a launch pad disaster and one was nearly a disaster in space. All of them were a quick out and back.
What if we had sent 3 or more people to the moon for an extended stay and all of them died and none of their bodies could be recovered?
I fear NASA would have been shut down.

See, the government works fine except for the elected bunch.

Those yahoos. Don’t get me started.

Worse, our elected bunch can find plenty of dough to send expensive gizmos to Mars, buy useless F35 fighter jets and park soldiers at our southern border but can’t devise and find funding for a decent healthcare system for all of our citizens.

What? We live in the greatest country on earth, so that can’t be right. Beside, the earth is flat, so I can see all those shit hole countries from my front porch. MAGA? Wait, that can’t be right.
