Looking west from El Rancho Pendejo. Somewhere over the horizon Flagstaff is taking another pounding.
Yahweh is supposed to have another go at us over the next couple of days, and then the weather is expected to return to something more in keeping with late February in the upper reaches of the Chihuahuan Desert, which is to say sunny and warmish.
Meanwhile, DeeCee is getting all hot and bothered over rumors that it will be Mueller Time almost any second now, no shit, really, this time we’re not kidding, it’s for reals, duck and cover, etc., et al., and so on and so forth.
Can you imagine how many Old Wise Heads will explode if he hits us with the prosecutorial equivalent of “Heckuva job, Trumpie?” Or if the Justice League buries the report down at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant with a 24/7 guard of Terminators? Maybe has China express-mail the sucker to the far side of the moon?
“The public is welcome to inspect the report there,” says Justice Department media liaison Phuq Yu. “We are nothing if not transparent.”

The only hope to which I am clinging is that Bob’s team really is a bunch of pros. There are enough former military and secret squirrel types that they know what is illegal and where the lines are, but they also know how to develop a primary plan, an alternate plan, a contingency plan, a retrograde plan, a back up plan, a supplemental plan, a reinforcing plan, and a bug out plan. So there will be multiple copies of the report and supporting documents, and if somebody tries to stash them away from the public, they won’t be leaked the way Washington DC typically leaks stuff. Someone at the WP will get a postcard with coordinates, and they will find a flash drive that has been wiped clean of fingerprints, and contains a sterilized .rtf doc with no metadata.
The report by law has to be marked Confidential, which is classified but isn’t as big a deal as Secret. And Mueller himself is always subject to subpoena.
I know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy… Who doesn’t know anything about this particular case, but knows how Mueller works. He’s expecting Mueller not to charge anybody high up on the food chain, but to lay out a lot of evidence that puts the ball in somebody else’s court, playing the long game and deflating any rigged witch hunt accusations
Having said all that, will not surprise me in the least if the entire thing is buried, Democrats murder each other in the primaries, and we’re looking at Pence/Palin 2024.
The USA had a good run, and as long as we have Nike, there will always be the Olympics to look forward to.

“Having said all that, will not surprise me in the least if the entire thing is buried,”
That’s pretty cynical, but probably correct. There are not enough balls in the senate to screw a shrew. Taking it to the SCOTUS after the unfortunate retirements and vacancies have been filled by Republicans for so many years, will be futile.

Mueller’s mandate was to find if there was collusion with the Rooskies. I think that he will have found a great deal of stupid behavior – a great deal of it bordering on illegal – from Trump and his extended family of grifters, but collusion is going to be very difficult to prove
I’m afeared that the report will be a huge let-down and the asshole will “win”. I pray to Yahweh I’m wrong…

Collusion occurred during the meeting in Trump tower with the Russians. Done deal. The FBI should have be notified when the Russians contacted Donny the dumber. That is the only thing that Bannon was right about during his whole tenure with the dumpster.

Now that is depressing. The classification of the report will be determined by a classifying authority based on the compilation of the information and the maximum classification of any one part of the report. Chances are many parts will be unclassified, and portion marked accordingly, but in aggregate might be classified. Bottom line is that the classifying authority has to approve the release of any part or the whole of the document. I have read nothing to date that says it has already been classified “confidential.” Did I miss something? Since it deals with foreign interference with our elections, espionage, and corruption of elected officials, I would expect secret as a minimum, but probably Top Secret NOFORN. In other words, the Boy Scout will kick the can to congress and nothing will happen, of course. A

As Charlie Pierce notes, the ball will be (and already is) in Congress’s court. He is not optimistic.

It will almost be worth it all if they put Stone in the slammer. That is a guy who is easy to hate. I know, simplicity, patience, and compassion are my three treasures.

I think Charlie’s right, but hope that once Mueller’s report has been completed, the next move will be impeachment. I think the Dems have been reluctant to start in earnest on it for fear of being criticized for not waiting until Mueller’s work is done. Once the report’s in they get started and the flying monkeys begin shrieking. The Dems can then challenge the AG to release the entire thing to prove there’s nothing to the charges of collusion and that impeachment should be dropped. Otherwise STFU and get outta the way!!!

The weather here has really turned to the dark side down here. Wind gusts are now at 45 mph with falling temps. Tomorrow promised 2 to 4 inches of snow with a high of 40 and wind gusts to 30. WTFO?
