Yesterday I rolled the dice and came up winners.
Come spring I dial the running back to once a week, usually Monday. But Monday was just too damn’ nice to pound ground, so I took Steelman Eurocross No. 1 out for a spin around the Elena Gallegos Open Space.
Tuesday was a tossup. LIke Monday, it served up some prime cycling weather, but Wednesday’s forecast called for rain, and I hate a squishy trail. So I ran.
And a good thing too, because today is reminding me of my days slaving for an afternoon daily in Oregon, only without the mold, slugs, and bottomless drams of Jameson with Guinness backs.
I still get that 4 a.m. wakeup call, since Herself is an early riser. But at least I’m not the one who has to leave a warm, dry house to work. Give my umbrella to the Rain Dogs.

Just a sprinkle down here, but the mountains got a good shower yesterday afternoon. No riding today, but hope to get on the trail tomorrow. We sold our second car; just didn’t use it enough. It was 2 years old and had 6500 miles on it. Off to Rainbow Guitars in a minute. Want to tag along Patrick?

That was a quick sale. Good on ye.
Have fun guitar-shopping. I may do likewise today, once I scribble a ’toon for BRAIN. A man must earn, however feebly.

Patrick, me lad! Ye just don’t know what it’s like to not have to buy body and hand lotion by the case, do ye? I lived in TorC and “Lost Almost,” but I refer the rain here in the Pacific NorthWet! I’ve grown webbing between my toes now, so I do just fine.

Have you ever seen Bill Burr’s riff on facelifts vs. moisturizing?
“That’s why you gotta hang out with everybody. There’s too much information in the world, and every group of people misses a little bit. White people totally missed the lotion seminar at some point in history.”

A few showers doesn’t sound that bad. Currently snow with 70K winds in The Great White North (PEI). There’s a reason we have socialized healthcare. Nobody would live here without some kind of support. Off to Cuba next week with some buddies to do some road riding. That should cheer me up, and hopefully the white stuff will be gone by the time I get back.

On the way back from the grocery I saw one of our local road toads surfing the deluge. He was either Belgian or didn’t check the forecast before he left for his road ride.
“Hey, coach said do hills on Wednesdays. It’s Wednesday, and I’m doin’ the fuggin’ hills.”
