Looks like it uses some of the old Sangre de Cristo Cycling Club Championship course in addition to the Santa Fe Hill Climb course.
And it sure should be interesting, given the amount of climbing, the quality of the air this weekend, and the temperament of the local motorists more or less year-round.
I’ll take a page from “The Milagro Beanfield War” on this one: “I’m not saying it’s good, I’m not saying it’s bad. Let’s just wait and see what happens.”
Just ’cause it’s Sunday doesn’t mean drivers will have Jesus in their hearts.

Recently I read that Albuquerque is highly rated as a place to live. And I am reminded that livability is often a complex issue. The desire to have everything “simplified” (what and by whom?) , rated and ranked is alluring. Just like that blue blue sky and sun.

Blue sky, mild temperatures, and sun shine over 300 days a year means a lot, especially in a small town. So, come on down to the Sky Island Tour Libby! Granted it’s sorta small potatoes as rides go, but you get to ride through the town that is truly different, Bisbee. I’m surprised Patrick hasn’t already bought a retirement home there for him and Herself.
You never know, Paddy me lad. I have friends in real estate and architecture down to there. El Rancho Pendejo del Sud? ¿Quien sabes?

Yea, you could say that. If the resistance to change in this ‘hood, and in Kentucky, could be converted to energy, we could meet or exceed the Paris Accord targets. Oh, I forgot, that climate change thingy is a Chinese hoax.
Merrill and I did a little fundraiser ride today. 75 miles in heat that was cooking squirrels who dared step into the pavement, with hills that only went up and never came down and miles and miles of headwinds so strong they made my farts smell good. In a word, it was epic.

Weather forecast for us today in Piedmont was grim, but the reality was much more pleasant. We popped over (10 kms) to the nearby town of Camagna to enjoy the 40 km route of La Monsterrato. Once the cool morning haze burned off it looked a lot like the photos here https://lamonsterrato.it/ Perhaps it got into the mid-80’s but that’s about it. Forecasts were for 100.
Best of all, we showed up a bit late and ended up with sort of our own private ride! Yours truly (Bianchi from the 70’s) the wife (DeRosa from the 70’s) client Steve (on an early 70’s Giuseppe Pela-built GIOS bought just for the purpose) Marco Gios himself (on a modern Gios built gravel bike) and friends Andrea and Marco (both on 70’s vintage Gios machines) plus a young guide who had no problems with riding ahead and then back again to check on the slower riders.
Including the 20 kms of getting there and back, the 40 km ride (with a LOT of strade sterrate, which included some pretty deep gravel sections) was more than enough for us!
Once Marco sends us some photos I’ll post ’em on the CycleItalia blog.
Now that sounds like some fun. We’ll look forward to seeing the pix.

The Tour of America’s Dairyland is making it’s sixth stop in J-town for the second consecutive year this Tuesday! A crit on at really tough track. The webmap is seriously oblivious to the BIG uphill on Courthouse Hill north of the mighty Rock River.
We have a strong, but small group of intrepid types who are at the organizing helm for this event. We are quite proud!

I hung around in Janesville in my youth. Had a girlfriend that lived in Janesville. She went to the community college in Kenosha, snd I met her there. I have fond memories of the town.

First time I went to Janesville to meet my girlfriend’s family, I met her sister. This song pretty much describes that meeting. Then I got drafted.
I’ll have to call my younger brother to see if he saw the race yesterday. He lives in Kenosha.
