    1. Well done indeed. Closest I’ve gotten to The Big Top was watching the Coors Classic’s Morgul-Bismark stage in 1986. LeMond, Hinault, Hampsten, Phinney, Alcalá … that wasn’t a bad field. Wasn’t the Tour, though.

    1. Seeing rocks, especially big rocks, mud, and gravel flowing like water is spooky and scary shit. We have seen it once or twice during severe flash floods in our arroyos. And it doesn’t take much depth to wash you or your vehicle right off the road.

      1. That’s a Chinese hoax. Right?

Isn’t there a doping regimen for excessive heat? Got to be some illegal ice water recirculating vests or some such shit that will give you the edge.

      2. The penultimate (I love that word!) stage has been cut to just 59km. That should cool things off a bit. Says CyclingTips:

“The stage will still start in Albertville and finish in Val Thorens, as planned, but two climbs will be cut out of the middle of the stage. The category 1 Cormet de Roseland and category 2 Côte de Longefoy have been pulled from the race.”

        1. Whoa….ASO makes two timely decisions that actually consider rider health and safety (versus de l’argent et l’image)? Must be the start of a new era, eh? J’espere c’est vrai!! 🙂

    1. Have you forgotten the Tour de Trump? I’m haunted by this race in the way those time-travel movies have people going back to kill Adolph Hitler.

If only I’d known!!! I was close enough to see the dandruff on his shoulders!!!!

  1. It’s a shame that while pro cycling loves to remind us of the epics like MSR 1910, Monte Bondone 1956 or Passo Gavia 1988, they’re not interested in doing any of that kind of suffering themselves these days….but they’ll cash the paychecks just the same.
