I like to do my camping in slightly more forgiving conditions.
Not exactly a prime morning to be homeless, kipping in a cardboard condo in the arroyos south of Central.
But then, when is it?
Nevertheless, the Albuquerque Journal says a bunch of New Mexicans are doing just that, or something very much like it. Citing a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development report, the Journal says our state’s double-digit surge in homelessness from 2018 to 2019 led the nation.
The numbers are all over the place, depending upon who’s giving them out. The New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness says we have 1,524 sheltered and unsheltered people in the Duke City. Albuquerque Public Schools says there are twice that many, just counting children alone. And Danny Whatley, executive director of the Rock At Noon Day, a day shelter and meal site, estimated the number of homeless in Albuquerque at between 4,000 and 4,500.
Still, we’re No. 1, amirite? We’re No. 1! We’re No. 1! We’re No. 1!
So. Much. Winning.

Homeless people are just losers. They must have done something wrong to end up on the streets. We need to hide them or they will hurt business. Wait, how could they lose when we have so much winning? Meanwhile, our winner in chief, Trumpleforeskin, is whining about not getting the Nobel Peace Prize again.

And once you no longer have a fixed address how do you vote? Even if you could, you have other issues to deal with. LBJ’s “War on Poverty” wasn’t a home-run but at least it looked like somebody cared and somebody was trying – unlike the current occupant of the White House. Morons Are Governing America…but I hope for only one more year!!!

VW’s Dieselgate guy (who killed nobody directly, though their pollution will do it long-term) went to jail. Will anyone from Boeing spend time in the can for the greedy decisions which led directly to the deaths of 346 innocent people? My old man worked for Boeing and has got to be doing 360’s in his grave about now.

We keep having this discussion about our oligarchy. Michael Bloomburg has given away $8.2 billion of his fortune. He must be a good guy, so should we let him buy the democratic nomination for president? Here we go into 2020 with the same song and dance at 2016. We are given a choice that is really no choice. I would love to elect someone who really needs the presidential salary. I know, O’Grady for President!

Well I’d vote for POG but I believe he could be easily corrupted if someone dangled say, a set of custom made wheels in front of him. Or even a new set of Global knives and All-Clad cookware. Yupper, even our hero can be reached. But still, I’d love to see him kick Moscow Mitch in the nads. Maybe I need to rethink this…POG…who would you put on your cabinet.? No…you can’t include Zappa even though passed on to the next world he shows more signs of life than Ben Carson.

I wonder what the Demos will do? Go with the a) establishment choice (seems like they tried that in 2016) the “moderate” who can get those middle-of-the-road folks who detest Trump but fear progressive candidates OR b) the revolutionary lefty who promises to change the system?
The establishment guy (Biden) would seem the key to votes from the black folks who sat out in 2016 but it’ll be a “hold-your-nose” vote for the rest of us. Someone much smarter than me needs to figure this out…and soon as we don’t need a re-run of 2016, another 4 years of Trumpism will be a disaster.
