    1. Confession time: the kids saw that Paris-Roubaix was on, so we watched the last 20 km while we were having dinner. Peter and Frezi Bouckaert, formerly of New Belgium, and currently running Purpose Brewing,
turned the kids into fans of every Belgian cyclist out there, so it’s kind of a hoot, watching them, pretend to care about a bunch of grown men in their underwear riding kids toys for six hours.

      1. That sounds like it was a great time. I wish I would have been one of the kids there. Although I don’t think I would have enjoyed the underwear part.

      2. That sounds like it was a hell of a good race. I wish I’d watched. But it may be a sign of just how complete my retirement from cycling journalism is that I didn’t even know the race — once my absolute favorite — was on.

  1. Off topic so please abide, we are rolling thru TheDuck city tomorrow eve and would be most grateful for dinner recommendations. TIA.

      1. Many (many) thanks for taking the time to help out a kindred bicycle-and-foodie soul. “Patio” sounds cool and the Gil’s should keep us well feed as we crisscross NM this year in all manner of travel. Oh, thanks for and keep the laughs commin’ as the soul also requires satisfying minimum daily requirements of snark and that can be hard to come by.

      2. Glad to oblige, señor. If you find yourself in Santa Fe I love La Choza and its upscale sister eatery The Shed. In Taos, I invariably hit Orlando’s.

And gracias for enjoying the little clown show we operate hereabouts. It ain’t much of an act, but the price is right.

        1. Great recommendations all. We will be in those towns several times this year and will certainly (and happily) test the load limit of my Spandex per your prescription. What could go wrong?

  2. Old Herb was/is a McCartney guy especially after his poorly disguised cd (under the name The Fireman) Electric Arguments. I mean you don’t hear too many artists putting fresh stuff out 6 decades later.
