Toasty … for now

Miss Mia Sopaipilla toasts her tummy on one of our new backyard walls.

Miss Mia Sopaipilla may find her daily backyard promenade going on hiatus for a while.

The weather wizards say a “potent cold front” is hooking up with a “fast-moving storm system” and we may be compelled to endure a short stretch of weather that is something other than 65° and sunny.

O, the agony. Still, if whatever we’re served comes with free water I’m all for it.

Expectations are that this first taste of winter weather will have a short shelf life here. Our readers to the north seem to be in for some heavy shoveling, however. Be judicious; give some thought to the lower back.

Speaking of shoveling, Mike Ha’pence just got tossed onto the growing pile of GOP Pestilential Candidates Who Are Not Orange and Under Indictment. Gosh, Mother, it makes a man’s eyes damp, for sure.

    1. We received out first tomato killing frost last night. I spent the morning recovering the poor ripening sods that were left on the vines. They will at least make it into some kind of a sauce. I trimmed the plants down and left a few green tomatoes on to see if they might ripen up a bit more.

Since we had bright fall sunshine, I was shod in shorts today.

Nice cat shot. I bet indeed that she enjoys those warm stones.

Khal, I hope you’re getting better.

      1. Miss Mia loves the new back yard, which includes one wall topped with flagstones and one without, plus a walkway that goes from gate to gate; all of it warms up nicely in the afternoon sun.

And we just got to see the full Hunter’s Moon for about 10 seconds before the clouds swallowed it up.

      2. We made a green tomato salsa out of a whole bunch of green tomatos that were on plants that got zapped early this month. I think the recipe was in the WaPo. Got about ten jars in the fridge.

      1. I haven’t laid lips on the Guinness NA as of yet. But in solidarity with your recent back episode I am making my 5th visit to PT tomorrow for yet another beating and boxing of the ears. I’ve been battling like hell these past months with low back and hip pain. The good news from MRI etc. is that there are no serious growths or such lurking just old age doing it’s number as it inevitably will.

      2. Jaysis, lad. I’ve had a week of it and it’s made me crazier than usual. How have you managed for months?

I’m contemplating PT myself. It seems that every time I get up into the 100-plus-miles-a-week club, Vertebrae, God of Spines, takes offense. I swear I heard it go when I bent down to clean out Miss Mia’s litter box last Monday, just as I did when I was hauling that fridge into the upstairs apartment. ’Tis a miracle I didn’t go straight to the real booze afterward.
