  1. Yeah I need to do that soon. We have just one bond initiative. Do I want to pay $800 more a year on my taxes or not? The city leaders decided a few years ago to offer a big tech company to build in the area with limited taxation. It would have been nice if they could have considered adding into the agreement something about helping out with the replacement of a couple of 75 year old schools.

  2. Corporate profit, taxpayer risk is the equation. Was anything in the agreement with the tech company that they stay a specified number of years or pay a penalty if they leave early? I bet not.

    1. I’ve been lax in finding out the tech company / small town details. They were worked out before I moved to the area. But the tech company (Big g) has built a second larger facility and is deep in the construction of another facility indicates that they don’t plan on going anywhere soon. We have a big advantage in that we have massive amounts of hydro power available and server plants that have been built need that power. I just wish I would have been in on the design and coordinated with them to use a majority of the cooling tower waste heat that they expel into the air. Visions of a year round pool and a track heated velodrome come to mind as cool ideas.
