I’ve been jamming lately with Jon who owns the music shop here in town. Two weeks ago, I got to jam with Jon and Brian. Jon and Brian, along with Scott, played a session for the local paper in their morgue. Patrick knows what that is. Anyway, Jon and I played “Get Behind The Mule” yesterday. Tom Waits explained he was inspired to write this song by the story that Robert Johnson’s father told him go try the music business but sooner or later you got to “Get Behind The Mule.” So, happy birthday Tom and thanks for this song. It’s the first song in this set.

I was jamming with Jon and Brian a couple of weeks ago, and we played that song. They played it, first song in the set, a few months ago in the morgue at the local fish wrapper.

Ol’ Tomás has a few keepers in his songbook, and more than a few of them are fun to play on whatever’s handy.
I like playing “Sight for Sore Eyes” on piano, “Time” on guitar, and “Invitation to the Blues” on flute.
So that’s why he was on terrestrial radio when I drove the munchkin to hockey practice this morning. Can’t say there’s never anything good on the air. It’s just few and far between.
Tom doesn’t get much airplay, does he? I keep hearing that he’s working on new music, but I keep not hearing the actual music, so one wonders.
