Look on the bright side

Heads up. …

After the results of the pestilential erection came in I decided to leave our Halloween lights up through Christmas.

It was just my way of saying “Jesus Christ!”

I may leave them up until the results of the next pestilential erection come in. Assuming we have another one, that is.

My little boneheads are considerably brighter than the MAGA dimbulbs, but those low-wattage loudmouths may actually be more illuminating in at least one respect. They provide a daily reminder that we must walk some distance in darkness.

Rather than curse that darkness, I light my candles. They have their joke, and I have mine.

Happy holidays from Herself, Miss Mia Sopaipilla, and Your Humble Narrator.

  1. We wish Patrick,Shannon, and Miss Mia the best of times tomorrow. Watcha cooking tomorrow? I am roasting a turkey breast, mashing some rutabagas, steaming some cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots, and air frying some sliced Yukon golds. I will be quaffing a couple of Dragoon Brewing Pils. Sandy will be sipping a Samuel Smith Chocolate Stout.
Wishing happy holidays to all gathered here in Perro Loco’s casa!

    1. Right back at you and Sandy, Paddy me boyo.

We batted a few ideas back and forth before finally settling on jambalaya, your basic one-potter with andouille, chicken thighs, and shrimp, plus a large side salad and a wide selection of tasty desserts collected from generous neighbors and the Range Cafe on Wyoming at Montgomery.

Herself will drink a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, while I enjoy either a Guinness 0.0 or one of my Athletic Brewing fakers, Free Wave Hazy IPA or Run Wild IPA.

What’s everyone else got on the fire? Don’t be shy. …

    2. I have some pleasant remnants of smoked turkey that I will be preparing with some sweet potatoes and a nice green salad. Nothing notable but good for the soul. Enjoying food with a loved one. I might decide to bake up a batch of coconut chip cookies. The one with special talents in our shack enjoys the cookies.

Thank you POG for another year of effort. I hope that your Christmas is Merry and of course, tasty. Let us also hope that your holiday lights work their mojo to hinder the affects of il trumpo.

  2. We do our big meal on Christmas Eve.

Hazelnut and Cranberry Field Roast, roast spuds and brussel sprouts, cranberry sauce, some fresh-frozen stuffing we saved from Thanksgiving, home made vegan chocolate cake, and whatever red wine we pull off the rack. Probably a cabernet sauvignon.

    All the best, everyone.
“I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future!” Scrooge repeated, as he scrambled out of bed. “The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. Oh Jacob Marley, Heaven, and the Christmas Time be praised for this! I say it on my knees, old Jacob; on my knees!”

  3. Happy Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa Eve to all!

As always, I must ask: Should we not be turning to ethical, moral, and inspiring good deeds thoughts ….. rather than food? Ooops …. sorry …. as I’ve learned after 77 years, “The Way to Humankind’s Heart is Through It’s Tummy” (Trademark applied for). 🙂

Might I again suggest the Heineken 0.0 for those of you who prefer the non-alcoholic brewski?

PO’G: Your jambalaya sounds muy delicioso! Enjoy!

Most importantly ….. best wishes to all for a safe, healthy, and joyous Holiday Season!

  4. Todays meal will be drawn from the distinguished leftovers from Christmas Eve which is when the Herbs old and young, big and small gather to celebrate. This year, back by popular demand, will be spiral glazed ham, garden raised baked beans, garden raised scalloped taters and no doubt a salad conjured up to try and offset the vascular damage. The wine (was) a 2018 Bordeaux preceded by fresh cider spiked with a shot of caramel whisky.
As I sit with a very strong cup of Christmas coffee today I am thankful for the fun, games and venting POG provides us all here.
