The Turtle has decided against running for re-election, saying he plans to spend more time with his money … er, family.
Which is where the bulk of his wealth is said to come from.
According to 2022 financial-disclosure reports, Mitch McConnell has “a net worth between $19 million and $68 million.” Much of this moola derives from his marriage to Elaine Chao, daughter of shipping magnate James Chao. The McConnells received an inheritance valued between $5 million and $25 million in 2007 when her mother died, according to The Washington Post via the Cincinnati Enquirer.
I’m guessing the McConnells won’t be slouching around the mailbox waiting on the Social Security check that will not be forthcoming once the DOGEbags have finished tidying up that messy ol’ feddle gummint he’s finally leaving behind. Not even FEMA will be able to make that dead dog hunt, if only because FEMA will no longer exist.
The Turtle’s venality and the Democrats’ timidity helped bring us to the precipice upon which we teeter. He will not be missed, not even by the players who took comfort in knowing that it was always his turn in the barrel.
Anyway, senators are so 15 minutes ago. We have a king now.

I do have a small (very small) ember of sympathy for the old turtle as I do for anyone who had polio. My mother (born in 1923) had a (thankfully) mild case of the disease as a five or six year old. Left her with an atrophied right leg that required her to wear two different shoe sizes all of her life, and forced her to walk with a very noticeable limp. Other than that, Turtle awaits a warm and not-so-cozy place in the netherlands of existence when he passes.
The hickey he left on dumpster’s ass is probably still there. He should have retired but, by his own words, he wanted to stack the supremes his way. And, he didn’t care how he did it. Nobody will miss his entitled pompous ass.
Ah but although he’ll be gone, the dumb shits that sent him to DC time after time will still be there in Kain-turkey a votin’ in the next jackass. Don’t you wonder what things would be like without right wing media? While the liberal media isn’t perfect, at least they hold back a bit on shouting out lies upon more lies. Meanwhile Fox et. all will say almost anything no matter how unbelievable it is. And down in Kain-turkey they’ll swallow it up again and send Moscow Mitch V2 to DC.
Word. Some folks just like to be told what to think. Clergy, TV talking heads, social media bullshit spreaders, and, my least favorite of the bunch, influencers are all parasites.
The good news is whoever replaces old Mitch will probably not be nearly as adept as he was in wielding the levers of power in the Senate.
Maybe not adept Khal but will likely be MAGA to the core whereas Moscow Mitch would on occasion stand on his hind legs and grumble about tRump before prostrating himself at the alter.
I’m just waiting for it to get worse.
Some interesting news I hope continues. The MAGA Insurrection Queen here in Michigan was announced as “perfect choice” and anointed by tRump for chair of Rethuglican party. She lost yesterday to a slightly more moderate guy but certainly more sensible. I thought it might take at least a year for Rethugs to begin eating their own but in only 6 weeks the backlash is biggly here already. At this rate by 2026 they will be fighting cage matches with each other. Especially if the money begins to dry up.
Let the repub cannibalism begin. It can’t happen fast enough for the country. They already have grounds for impeachment. They just don’t have the courage.
