Just another manic Monday

“Will you look at the man? He’s a Freudian delight; he crawls with clues!”

Maj. Whiskey Tango “Foxtrot” Sterno was said to be “crawling out of his skin” as the Warfighter in Chief prepared to address the brass hats he has ordered to assemble like so many raw recruits, reminding us not only of “The Caine Mutiny” but also “Lost Weekend.”

OK, so it’s The Daily Beast riffing on a piece from the Daily Mail. Not exactly the Word of God. But I’ll take good news wherever I can find it, especially on a Monday.

Speaking of good news, the clock is ticking to the first shutdown of the federal government in nearly seven years. This has been the goal of the Repuglicunts for as long as I can remember, which hardly makes it breaking news. But this time, who knows? It could stay shut down this time, and the generals and admirals would all have to travel back to their assignments via private transpo ho ho ho ho ho.

There will always be money to blow shit up, government or no government. But I wouldn’t want to be hanging by my nutsack waiting on a Social Security check.

    1. Thanks, bruh. This morning as I was making coffee and mentally composing that post, I heard some faint sound through the open kitchen window, like an asthmatic cat trying to catch its breath. There are wandering felines in the ’hood, so I stepped to the window for a look-see, but saw nothing.

Then I heard the sound again and IDed it as a rooster who didn’t sound any too sure of himself. Someone must be going into the egg bidness to counter the rising cost of breakfast. I don’t know what or if they’ve named this rooster, but I’m gonna call him Pete Hegseth.

    1. And here we have the “Commander in Chief,” who just can’t stay away from a hot mic:

There does not seem to be a clear point or purpose in President Trump’s address to military generals today. It’s a garden variety tear; he’s talking about tariffs, Joe Biden and the autopen, the southern border, CNN, his personal feelings about President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia and his anxieties that he won’t be given a Nobel Peace Prize he feels he deserves. These are things he talks about almost every day regardless of audience or setting. Every so often he throws in a statistic or observation he has about the military. “I think we should maybe start thinking about battleships by the way” he said at one point in the middle of a riff about tariffs. “I used to watch Victory at Sea. I love Victory at Sea.”

    1. The sonofabitch is obviously trying to provoke riots. And he’s liable to get a few for free. If nobody antes up, he can always pay a few goons to stage a couple “uprisings.” Gummint or no gummint, there’s always money for propaganda, violence, and skulduggery.

    1. POB….you had it right. My enemy IS anyone who supports the current US Nazi efforts and their front man…..you know….the guy who can’t complete his sentences and cheats at golf and every other thing he does.

  1. I think this image says it all. I knew a number of general officers back in the day. Nothing but dedicated soldiers. And I don’t see a bunch of masters fatties in the group either.

    1. What a preposterous waste of time and money. But that’s the hallmark of this “administration,” isn’t it?

Whaddaya wanna bet that they had cameras all over that shameful exhibition and are running the video through analysis to unmask the disloyal, with their eye-rolling and their sidemouthed “D’y’ believe this guy?”

  2. My fear is that this group of military leaders might just decide they have had enough. Oh, to be a fly on the wall at the Quantico Officer’s Club after that “briefing.”
