Nothing to see here, move along

Pay no attention to the man behind the iPhone. I shot a few frames of cellphone video during today’s Snowpocalypse in order to have an excuse to play with iMovie, something I need to do more often if I’m ever to be one of the cool kids.

Meanwhile, the potential for meteorological suckitude is not limited to the Rocky Mountain states. Here’s hoping the Tour of California peloton remembers to pack its embrocation.

  1. OG, I feel your pain. I just got off the wind trainer, in the middle of effin’ May no less! We’ve had a solid week of rain, high winds, and cold temperatures. Someone’s really pissed off the cycling Gods. I figure we blame the Republicans or their Canadian equivalent, the Conservatives.

  2. Warm sunshine in Fruita Sunday, rain, rain, and more rain through today plus sloppy snow from Glenwood Springs to Golden on the way back. There’s a lot to be said for camping in a motel.

  3. Official NWS forecast for Stateline NV Sunday is “Snow likely” with a high temperature of 42. That’s in ‘Merican numbers not silly Euro numbers in case you’re wondering.

It seems that the brainiacs at AEG and the UCI think it doesn’t snow in California in May. They’d be wrong….as evidenced from last year’s race. Of course once they get around to having the race at the proper time of year for the Tahoe Basin, say mid-July, no one would give a fig about their silly race.

Reminds me of the time a Death Ride (aka Tour of the California Alps) rider came in the shop in early July and wanted to know what to wear. We all replied: “arm warmers, tights and maybe some cold weather gear. And then when you get to the top of Monitor pass, just leave it all.” She came back a few days later and thanked us for the advice. Naturally that is not as bad as the year in which the Ride Around Tahoe took place in a snowstorm. And that ride takes place in early June….and follows the exact same route as Sunday’s ride.

I am just excited that the ‘commute’ to Monday’s stage is half a block. I don’t want to walk to far in the rain.
