Happy trails

The leaves are turning rapidly here in Bibleburg, despite the best efforts of Congress to halt the march of progress.

Here’s yesterday’s view from the Co-Motion Divide Rohloff. I rode north on the Greenway trail to the U.S. Air Force Academy and found surprisingly little damage from the recent flooding; either the trail elves have been busy or the south end took the brunt of the storm.

While out and about for the first time in a week I met up with my old pal Dennis the Menace and we rode along for a spell, discussing the parlous state of current affairs.

We agreed that chaos prevails, and while that can be amusing for those of us in the ever-precarious business of rumormongery, we both felt that we little people in the hinterlands would benefit from a prompt extraction of crania from colons on the federal level.

At least the sonsabitches haven’t been able to furlough fall. It proceeds apace, and helps us forget, if only for a while, that we have elevated the least of us into authority over most of us.

If these fuckwads could hold back the sunrise, they would. AFAIC, there is nothing wrong with Washington, D.C., that a 1 km asteroid impact would not cure.

Oh Khal, there you go wanting to blow stuff up again. All that would produce is a nasty fallout of gross arrogance, greed, and hypocrisy downwind.

Patrick, glad you got to get out and decompress.

I sent an email to my democratic congressman (Barber) urging him, and any other democrats he can convince, to support Boner for speaker if he agrees to bring a clean CR and debt increase bill to the floor at sequestration funding levels. That would break the teapot’s backdoor coup, especially after the Koch bros briber in charge said the ACA was OK with them.

If it was an asteroid, it means God did it, right? But you are right. What exists in DC should probably stay in DC. We need a containment boom around it to hold in the sleaze.

Agree that some way of detaching Boner and the RINOs from the Tea Party would be interesting. Having the Tea Party elect the next speaker would be a disaster.

Act of God? I like it. Wonder how Bachman would explain that? Too many witches in the Congress maybe?

Good thinking buddy. Hope they got you working on the superconductor project. Winter storm warning in Flagstaff . I assume it’s heading your way.

Weather has been turning ugly since noon. I hope to get my two wheels and their ensconced fat ass home before it gets much worse.

    • Dale Says:

Khal, we’re a little too close to DC (as the crow flies across the Chesapeake) to endorse your asteroid strike. Plus, all the fuckwads in the house are from somewhere else. Not to mention the actual DC residents who have no representation in the house or senate. Perhaps that asteroid should break up upon entering the atmosphere and find its way to certain gerrymandered legislative districts across the land.

You also buzzed past me and Ken Helgeson. We coulda had a great big cyclocross 10 year reunion.

How about a dome just like Stephen Kings book.

Glad to hear you’re back on the bike.
A place I stop by regularly is run by a guy who listens to Rush Windbag pretty much every day. The whacked out stuff this fellow (not Rush, we know how he operates) says is a clear example that angry, white and not-so-bright folks think the tiny minority of crackpots like Steve King are doing the right thing out there in DeeCee.
To them, somehow the MA healthcare program championed by the plutocrat they put up for president last year is the worst-thing-that-ever-happened when it covers the other 49 states and the guy responsible for it is named Barack Obama. WTF?
The good news is – these folks and their political party are on their way to extinction…though of course they’re not going quietly.

    • khal spencer Says:

Good point, Larry. If these people were not, as your wife says, stupid, one could remind them that Obamacare was modelled after Romneycare in Massachusetts. Then again, a lot of these guys don’t think much of Romney, either. He was not, at heart, stupid enough for their tastes.
