Miss Mia Sopaipilla enjoys the freshly mowed lawn at El Rancho Pendejo.
Miss Mia Sopaipilla suspects that many humans are at least a taco short of a combo plate, but she’s willing to give us the benefit of the doubt as long as she gets a dollop of cream with her breakfast and the occasional outdoor adventure.

“Cats are connoisseurs of comfort.”
James Herriot, James Herriot’s Cat Stories.
And this, “underwhelming pictures of cats.”

James was right. Regard the Turk, for example.

Almost a feline Ansel Adams there, PO’G. Well done! And chapeaux to The Turk and Señorita Mia too! 🙂

Nine years ago yesterday, while teaching a kayak class a young all-black kitten was bawling its head off in the weeds next to the launch site. He was feral, starving and no one could catch him despite his weakened condition. It took almost a week to live trap him. We were told that local vets would neuter young toms for $25 to help bring down the alarming number of feral cats. Well, $200 later I went to pick up the little bastard and was told “this one is truly hell cat wild and will no doubt take off the first chance he gets”. Well my $200 is sprawled out on the carpet napping with 4 paws in the air right now. And yes he gets a dollop of cream too in the morning and there is hell to pay if he doesn’t. And no, he rarely is allowed outside and has only made one other vet trip in nine years. Coincidentally, that was $200 too! Must have that number plastered on my forehead.

That is a good story Herb! When I take the Duffinator to the vet, I just give them my wallet and tell them take what you need. Otherwise the sticker shock knocks me on my ass.

Same here. We close our eyes and scrawl our signatures on the credit-card slip. Some folks have boats, beach homes or RVs … we have pets.

A zen lesson from our betters. Thanks for the much-needed dollop of sanity.

Sometimes you have to take a deep breath, sigh, and look at pictures of cute lil’ animals. Opposable thumbs ain’t all they’re cracked up to be.

This weekend with Charlotteville has left me in a really bad mood for some reason. I need to go ride my bike.
