Electric bus(t)

OK, so I’m just spitballing here, but what if we got these really long extension cords. …

Huh. “Problems plague push for electric buses.” Imagine my surprise. The phrase “One hand washes the other” was coined by some poor sap who discovered the hard way that giving a handjob with one mitt while grabbing a sheaf of greenbacks with the other can be a very messy business indeed.

Maybe some enterprising sort can just airdrop a shit-ton of Bird scooters on LA and Albuquerque. Save a bunch of money, create jobs for chargers, and give the locals a new reason to be shooting each other all the time.

We have lobbyists and grant writers to help you cheat the taxpayers. I’d like to give these folks the bird, and my bird doesn’t need charging. It is ready to go at all times.

Forget honor — there’s no shame among thieves. They grab all they can carry and then scurry chortling for the crannies like roaches when the light flips on.

One of these days I need to scope out the whole nine-mile stretch of “revitalized” Central. It looks pretty slapdash from San Mateo to Nob Hill, I can tell you that. And the only buses running are the old sort. Not in the brand-new bus lanes, of course. Never a can of Black Flag handy when you need one.

I’ve done it, I’ve done it!
    Guess what I’ve done!
Invented a light that plugs into the sun.
    The sun is bright enough,
    The bulb is strong enough,
But, oh, there’s only one thing wrong…

    The cord ain’t long enough.

Reminds me of the old “fell apart like a Chinese motorcycle” saying. This is something the Tesla folks should be making instead of fancy sports sedans. How hard can it be? The damn thing goes around and around its route then to the charging station. Repeat. If the technology’s no good for this, how will it ever be good enough to take over from fossil-fuel burning private cars that go short distance one day, long distance the next?

    • Carl Duellman Says:

exactly. tesla is supposed to be making semi trucks so a bus shouldn’t be that complicated. it’s not rocket science but even if it was tesla’s got that covered also.

      • Pat O'Brien Says:

One thing about Tesla, if they don’t start making a profit soon Wall Street will bail and they will go under. If you can’t churn the stock, and there is no long term profit in owning it, no one will buy it. Innovation is great, but sooner or later you have to sell and support a product or service.

You mean the venture (vulture) capitalists are no longer shoveling money into Tesla? What are they doing with all that loot…putting it into an app that will create custom fart sounds from your phone? These folks need to put some dough into stuff the world actually needs and could use….like a bus.

Buses aren’t sexy. When was the last time you saw 007 taking the bus?

That whole Albuquerque project has been a gigantic cluster-bleep of mismatched design and bad planning.

  5. Pat O'Brien Says:

Maybe everything old should be new again?

Speaking of being renewed, I am heading to the Tucson airport to pick up the smarter half this morning.
