“That Wall money must be up there somewhere, lemme have another look.”

This just in: Rich get richer.

And those other folks? Oh, they get something, a’ight, but it ain’t richer.

  1. Weirdest shut down that I can recall… Seems like 80% of the government is still open, and the ones that are closed are mostly the ones that generate revenue

Sure glad we have a businessman running government …

  2. I’ve talked to three people who have been furloughed

Three completely different agencies, but a couple of things in common. Their personal salaries will eventually get paid, only we’regoing to pay them for not working for a couple weeks. And they all have subcontractors who will not get paid, will not do any work, and will kick in new contracts at higher rates to make up for the lost work when the shutdown’s over.

Somewhere Buchanan and Fillmore are kicking back smiling, saying to each other, at least were not tied for worst anymore

  3. Gee, the existing power members in Congress miss another one. Another clue that they are clueless. Hard to talk about checks and balances, and Pelosi claiming she is equal to the president, when they can’t even organize a veto override vote.

    1. Pelosi, age 78, Hoyer, 79, and Clyburn, 78, have been the top three in House Democratic Leadership for over 10 years. They have been in office for 31, 38, and 28 years respectively. Have they done some good things over this time? Sure, but has congress performed their major constitutionally assigned responsibilities during this time? No. Immigration reform? None since 1994. Tax reform. Nope. Manage the budget? Mostly no. Manage the debt? No. Fix the Postal Service cash flow problem. Nope. Infrastructure? Nope. Health care? Half hearted, strictly partisan attempt that has been largely ineffective and challenged because it wasn’t bi- partisan. Seniority only counts if you are not incompetent. Reference Khal’s comment above.

      1. And with junior members of the Donkey Party substituting profanity for ideas, I am not hopeful. I think former Gov. Bobby Jindal was wrong. Both parties are the Stupid Party.

    2. I think what we really need is a better educated, more informed, more engaged electorate. A better base makes for a sharper pyramid.

I’m not quite sure how we get there from here. I don’t see any Star Children laying any black monoliths on the monkeys down here. Or even on the moon. Hit it, fellas!

  4. I joined the Democratic Party to help get Howard Dean elected, but when they skewered him I went back to being independent, but the Donk’s are the only opposition we got folks…so anyone who can keep them together and organized is the best hope we have.
These new people will have their chance but with Fat Nixon still in the White House, I’ll take an experienced, crafty old battle axe like Nancy Pelosi every time.
Seems like this was all settled with FN caving until he backed out once Rush Windbag and Co started raving about a sell-out, so he owns the mess, no matter what he says now. But I’m sure glad I no longer live there…wonder if the mess will be solved before I come back for NAHBS in March?

  5. “You know, I don’t find this stuff amusing anymore.” I agree with Paul Simon. No more comments from me on the dumpster and congress. That horse died a long time ago. I guess no one will do anything until it starts “stinking to high heaven.”
