  1. The juncos arrived here about 2 weeks ago, the various sparrows preceeded them. There were plenty of wild seeds for them then, but I began to scatter a few black oil sunflower seeds in protected areas around our small property as a backup.

We have 3 hanging feeders for the chickadees and titmouses mostly, and two suet feeders for all of the above as well as nuthatches and woodpeckers and wrens.

On ocaission a hawk takes one of the feeding birds and we don’t mind that – predators gotta predate.

Speaking of shrinkage – the birds I see puff up when it gets really cold. On the other hand, my little red rooster does shrink.

  2. Snow yesterday? Please send some down here. I would root around in the back of the closet for a winter coat without complaint to get some water from the sky, even frozen.

    1. We didn’t get much, Pat. Just enough to broom off the driveway. Under an inch. But at least it got stupid cold. Some evildoer has done made off with my delightful high-desert climate.

Anybody seen the “president” lately? He probably sold it to Russia.

      1. Fingers crossed. The fella who has the gig at present never wanted it, wasn’t qualified, and isn’t doing it.

That said, maybe I should get in line for a pardon. I have a few black marks in the old personnel file. I should start passing the hat. He isn’t giving these things away out of the goodness of his heart, y’know.
