Pull it, sir

Luck of the draw.

Well, I didn’t win the Pulitzer for cartooning again this year.

But neither did anyone else.

Back to the ol’ drawing board, everyone!

SuperBowl 99, the Toledo Mudhens vs the Washington Generals, and Co-Presidents Melia and Sasha stand at mid-fiend for the coin toss, look over both teams, and say, Naw, we’re not playing this one, both of y’all go home.

I understand that may be forthcoming cartoons regarding a larger Pulitzer Price board. Something along the lines of two chimpanzees dropping a ball onto a labyrinth maze board with hole traps along the path ways. The chimpanzees are lured away from their Pulitzer awarding goal by bananas on a string that are randomly swung down above their heads.

Perhaps the Board sat around too long at home playing video games and watching TV media.

I believe I just read the other day in the Journal of Statistical Science that researchers at the University of Minnesota have determined that if you put ten satirical illustrators in a room with carpeted walls and a box of crayons, it will take them 1.47 million years to write the Old Testament – Three days for the illustrators to have eaten all the crayons and another 1.4 million years to figure out that one of the researchers inadvertently had a left an old Mac computer connected to an outlet in one corner of the room. This is notable because an earlier research study calculated that when five Capuchin Monkeys were placed into a similar room, it took only 1.1 million years to write the Old Testament and the monkeys had developed the iPhone 24X using parts out of the same Mac computer left in the corner of the room.

I thought this was a fascinating study and wondered how much the findings would change if the illustrators had been given pillows to sleep with from My Pillow. But then they likely would have killed each other in only a few days because each one of them would have thought the other had re-carpeted the walls of the room, even though the carpet in the room never changed (It was a very long lasting carpet, you know; to last 1.47 million years).

The guy who pens This Modern World put something on his site about the non-awarding of the cartoon Pulitzer. Seems he’s sat on the committee in the past, and had a good perspective.

I started following the Canadian cartoonist Michael deAdder about 3 years ago. Ithink he now is on the WSJ. Are you familiar with him? His satire towards politics and current events reminds me so much of your outlook on cycling and all that you are, etc. I hope you take that as a compliment. it’s meant to be
