“And Saint Attila raised the Litespeed up on high saying, ‘Oh, Lord, bless this thy Litespeed that with it thou mayest blow thy quads to tiny bits, in thy mercy.’ And the Lord did grin, and people did feast upon the lambs, and sloths, and carp, and anchovies, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats, and large. …”
And the Lord looked down on his decrepit, 66 year old bicyclist and said, “Ye idiot. Ye thinks ye can still ride like a man in his youth. Well, I know better and therefore I will send my spirit into the Land of Shimano and they shall see the light, and equip this bicycle with stupid low gears so that even ye of little ability can struggle up to the top of the mountain to see what is on the other side”
And with that, a miracle occurred and Saint Shimano invented the GRX Drivetrain.
Everybody should have a ti’ bike in the stable. I bought mine back in the Nineties and they’re still with me today.
The DBR Prevail TT has only a few bits remaining from the original build kit (the saddle and Shimano 600 brake calipers), while its cousin the Axis TT even has the original XT drivetrain.
Yeah, titanium is the nazz. I’ve got a 1999 Litespeed Ocoee that’s a dead ringer to your DBR. Hardtail, short travel RockShox up front. Bought all the parts and built it up. Even bought the wheel parts ala carte and built those.
Everybody should have at east one titanium, and everybody should lace up a set a wheels from scratch. That wheelset was quite the experience. I’m sure you blokes build wheels all the time. I don’t have the patience and talent for sure, but at least I can say I did it once.
Oh, and if anyone is in the market for a 52 cm Long Haul Trucker, I made a deal with the Boss of the House to thin the herd a little in order to buy this one. Its in great shape. Sigh. Sob….

I’d prefer to watch Three Stooges, Marx Brothers, or Mel Brooks. A lot more real than anything we will see on TV this week.

I got it with 700c. For some reason, I like big wheels. Also like paying to have stuff built in this country, for what its worth. And on that note…
