Actually, it’s there because I need to learn more about shooting and processing video and what’s possible with minimalist gear. Got to get faster at it, too. All the cool kids are doing it.
That little flick got shot with a Canon PowerShot Elph 300 HS point-and-shoot that does HD video and stereo sound with dynamic image stabilization. Pretty amazing little camera, hardly bigger than its battery charger, though a modern cellphone can probably do most of this stuff; I’m struggling along with an iPhone 3GS. Editing was in iMovie ’09.
The Turk’ loves him some water. He’s gotten into the shower with Herself a time or two, and he considers all sinks his personal, private lakes.
You’re welcome, Bro’. The Turk’ is a shameless camera hog, unlike Miss Mia Sopaipilla, who is violently opposed to all forms of paparazzi, as you can see here.
I enjoyed it. Reminds me of Pooter, who liked to stare at the bathtub faucet until someone would turn it on. Then she would do the same; and when the water was turned off, she would play with the drain, trying to figure out where the water went.
Cats have a high cool factor.
I was always a dog guy, but the cats we’ve had in the past 15 years make me wish I’d changed allegiance sooner.
Miss Mia Sopaipilla likes to race around the house playing with zip ties and going, “Rrrr!” Often she winds up in the bathroom, turning on the tub faucet and then pulling down Herself’s towels to make a nifty nest on the warm furnace register.
She also does the “I’m so cute, lookit me” bit with less malicious intent than the Turk’, who is mostly after fresh meat when he pulls his fluffy-bunny act. You can give Mia a tummy rub without drawing back a bloody stump.
Keep an eye on the toilet paper roll- when the cats discover that, you’ll want to reverse the paper-hang. My sister’s cats love to leave most of the roll on the floor. And it’s a headache to re-roll aalllll that paper.
(Darn- I should have let The Young Turk know before O’Grady!)
OG: As a “Lefty” myself (left handed; not necessarily that politically), you need to get a left-handed cat! The Turk obviously is right-handed and quite dexterous (and maybe exhibits a curiosity and intellect that far surpasses mine!!); but because of that has no idea of what it means to “swim/paw/scratch upstream” in a right-handed world/jungle.
There’s a coup coming! Lefties of all species unite!! 🙂
